I found that document before, but it doesn't say anything about ICM coding, I do believe that this is the process I need I follow.

Connect => Read FA (VO) => Save FA (VO)(just in case) => Activate FA (VO) => Read SVT (VCM) => Right*Click on ICM (the ECU itself not the underlying CAFD) => Select CODE.

Anyone can double check it?
Sounds right but I would make sure to just make a backup of everything(you can make a backup of things other than the FA) before starting to code thats what I did before I touched anything but other than that sounds right just unless you have also inject cafd which someone should chime in about BUT WHATEVER YOU DO, DO NOT TOUCH THE CODE DEFAULT VALUES BUTTON

You would just read and activate FA then read svt select the ICM, detect cafd for swe and select one of the lower ones in the window that pops up (the bottom 4 are the newest) then right click on the ICM and hit code

This is fascinating. I have no idea what you folks are talking about. I know how to check the oil. Especially since you don’t have to raise the hood to do it.

Is this selection not linked with => Select the CAFD from the latest I*Level =>Right*Click on ICM (the ECU itself not the underlying CAFD) => Select CODE.?
Yep that's it right there I'm just exactly in front of esys rn.

hey no biggie honestly I didn't know jack until I did my first mod then I started getting addicted and just like learning more about my car when money permits LOL this isn't half as bad as when I was virginizing a used instrument cluster to put in my car, but honestly I just started at the diy coding thread and reading tons from people here

Hello midnightf30 , I tried today to sort the ICM out, BUT,

I am a bit lost on this step Read SVT (VCM) Does VCM mean that I have to read the SVT on the Expert mode => VCM tag or in Codding tag? Since both have READ SVT bottom.

Then I don't want to mess up this so I will write what steps I will be following. Can you check them for me, please?

Connect => Read FA (VO) => Save FA (VO)(just in case) => Activate FA (VO) => Read SVT (VCM) Here are two possibilities:

1 CADF are not corrupted so I will follow => Right*Click on ICM (the ECU itself not the underlying CAFD) => Select CODE.

2CADF ARE corrupted =>Left-Click ICM option within Coding or VCM?=> Click on "Detect CAF for SWE" => Select the CAFD from latest I-Level displayed => Select OK => Right-Click on ICM (the ECU itself not the underlying CAFD) => Select CODE.

Thanks for your help

For all of this you should be in the coding part of the expert tab

Possibly, what do you mean you lost start stop? And did you have anything coded prior to the icm you had before?

is the icm a common replacement in these f30s. I have my car waiting for one at the dealership now. and never know when to trust them. but worh the indies closed around here due to the pandemic and my lack of knowledge in coding I couldn't just buy a used one and code it. I do have a software equipped hard drive with esys and insta+ and all the other programs. but am not trying to brick my ecu.
