FML cracked mirror.

Trying to install carbon fiber mirror caps with the removing of the glass method, within 10 seconds i cracked the shit out of my passneger side mirror and i quit. I am so freaking mad. Should i just have ripped off the old caps and put on the new ones?

Sorry to hear! The correct method is as you pursued... ripping them from the front is ok if you don't care of the potential risk of breaking the tab on the current caps.

Do you have heated + auto-dimming mirrors? If so, the glass is very expensive, so best to just order from eBay (even with Europe shipment seems to be cheaper than US-based).

Use this as a time to upgrade to the EU Mirrors instead of $350 for a single USA Mirror Replacement.

If you vehicle was produced after 04/2016, you don't have a dimming passenger mirror. Only driver.

Thanks to BMW cost cutting, now you possible saving a few bucks.

Are the EU mirrors better in anyway or just cheaper. I found a used USA replacement for 100$. I'm also gonna go to my local glass shop and see if there's anything they can possibly do.

Yes. That's why the word "upgrade" was used.

The set I have are convex toward the outer end to reduce blind spots. Also, they don't have the ugly black border and they don't say "objects in mirror may be closer than they appear".

Way better imo than stock USDM.

These mirrors WILL NOT work if you have BMW's Anti-Dazzle Mirrors as the connectors are different

So they lack the extra connector for the auto-dimming function. I'm not sure if you get an error if that connector is not terminated.

No codes thrown with disconnected autodim connector.

Glad to hear a happy ending. When I read the thread title my first thought was "he probably tried to change the mirror caps". Welcome to what a lot of us (myself included) have gone through when swapping out the mirror caps. I ultimately went with the ripping off the back method instead of messing around with the glass. Luckily I was able to find a used one for $100 USD as well.

Yup, I even made a post about not trying to take out the mirrors in the DIY. I went from the back and did it completely fine and broke no clips

I've seen quite a few videos of people successfully taking out the mirrors. I am not one of those people...
