Door handle not unlocking door
On my f30 recently my door handle has not been unlocking my door randomly. The door lock seems to be going up and down slower than usual. Any one have experience with this? Will cpo cover it? Thanks

i just went to the dealership the get this problem fixed
it's the door actuator are you still under warranty? if not, you probably would have to pay the part is not more than $100 but labor is expensive because it required you to take off the panel there's youtube DIY video available if you wanna DIY |

Be taking it in to see what they say! They did say they may charge 80 if it is not covered to diagnose it. |

Hopefully BMW has updated their door actuators, I have a 2016 F36 and a 2019 F22. The F36 has one year left on warranty.

This just started happening on my front doors and my original warranty just expired sometime in December
Does anyone know if the fix is covered with the CPO warranty or only the original?

What sucks is the lock actuator is either $49 or $215 based on whether you have the alarm or not... Of course my car does not and supposedly needs the $215 actuator. Has anyone else used the cheaper part in a non alarm car? Why would there be a 300% price difference?!!

You may not need an actuator. My driver's door won't open from the handle from time to time (with the symptoms mentioned above), but if I lock/unlock it using the central locking button on the dash the handle will work. After this happened a couple of times, I decided to put my trickle charger on my car. Once I did, the inside handle started working again. I'm thinking it is about time to replace, my 5+ year old battery.

There's about 100 threads on this. It's your door actuator. Mine were both replaced, but they were under original warranty, so I'm not sure about CPO. I've seen conflicting info in all those threads.

I'm out of warranty on my 2014 F31. Has anyone tried the cheaper actuator in a non-alarm equipped car? I still don't understand the enormous price difference for NOT having an alarm on the car.
The part numbers are 51217202146 ($49 or $66 for right and left!) for the alarm equipped car and 51217229458 ($215) for the non alarm version. |

If you do a bit of Googling you can find prices all over the place. I saw both for less than $100. BMW of Atlanta has both at the same price. I'm not sure what the difference between the two are, but they look very much the same to me. Where did you fine the on for $49-66? Do they not have the other one?
