Just accepted a new job that comes with a "car"

So, I just accepted a new job and apparently they have a vehicle program. However, they have no written program and I don't want to be so forward as to ask for more details before I actually start in three weeks. Here's hoping for a cool car. I would hate to be driving a Nissan Leaf or something. It is a Dutch company, they border Germany, so maybe I can trade up for a 340!

I drive a F30 328xi now. I'm a little worried I'm going to be expected to downgrade to whatever they give me.

And again, why is this a forum issue? We didn’t negotiate your compensation package

If this was an issue, you should have negotiated with them.

Drive the POS they give you and keep the BMW for the weekend/leisure miles.

Congrats, a company paid car is a great deal.

Love the Inka orange 2002 above, the 1974+ bumpers, not so much. I had a 1970, a 1972 and a 1975 2002. Great fun.

A 3-series 1.6L or 2.0L is popular company car in Germany/UK/Europe, right?

Maybe a G20 320d/i for junior exec, or G30 520d/i for senior exec?

Unless you are senior executive, or with a company that loves to burn cash, there is a 0.0001% chance that you get a BMW (or any other premium vehicle). You will most likely get a car that the company gets fleet discounts on (aka comparable models will be found at most car rental places).

Regardless, free vehicle, free fuel, it's still a win. Enjoy your BMW on the evenings/weekends.

You might be able to get a car allowance instead of car in which case you can put that towards whatever you want. This is a pretty common practice unless the company sells and/or manufactures cars in which case you would be expected to roll in one of theirs.

Company leased cars are pretty common in Europe. Our car list went down to section managers 1.5L cars.

OP did not say where he would be located Europe or US. My daughters company is Irish & she is located in the US & gets a car allowance. If she was over there she would get a leased company car.

Seems like weeks of speculation on their car allowance is probably counterproductive. We have no idea what kind of position it is, so it would be really hard to put out a WAG as to how much we are talking here. So--if they don't give you enough money to go out and purchase a 340, then come out of pocket yourself for the difference, and get your 340.

My current company the car allowance is $0. So even a Taurus is a win compared to me.
