You're saying goodbye to a car over $3000? That's not a huge amount of money. I'd understand if there was an extra 0 there..

It was the CPO plan.. the terms are the 2015 one, that's when I got it.
Maybe BMW goes by their new policy of the warranty. Smh. gtfo |

That doesn't sound outrageous for a german car. Things could be a lot worse. After this, you should be good for awhile.

Each and every one of those is a SIMPLE DIY.
Excuse my French but... dont be a moron. Find a decent indy or learn to get your hands dirty. Just trying to be honest! |

Good indy shop is the way to go, they may even find that a lot of what the dealership is saying needs replaced actually doesn't. DIY is always great, but if you don't have the time or the tools it may be easier just to have a good shop do it for you. Personally my time is more valuable than paying someone who works on BMW's all day and knows what they are doing.

You have a 2013? The regular warranty is definitely expired. But your CPO is probably still valid. What do you mean by "2015 terms?" Your car is a 2013. You use the 2013 CPO rules. Did the dealership try to say your CPO is limited? Smells fishy.
If the dealership is trying to say your car uses the 2015 rules, they're lying to you. Unless your CPO is expired, which it shouldn't be, but will be close, you should be getting all these things covered by CPO. You have 6 years from the original in-service date of your car for CPO. Period. |

If it's CPO, you can fight it. You won't always win but it's worth a shot. Dealers have the right to make the call if something is not covered by warranty(even if BMW NA says it's covered) doesn't make sense, but it's true. If you argue enough, they will usually cover some if not all of it. I hate that BMW allows dealers to make individual calls rather than a "on paper" coverage but it is what it is.
Other than that, I agree with the others, indy or tackle the job yourself.

The shop probably spotted a bit of oil leaking at the OFHG and recommended replacing the gasket - that is a rather common leak point on these motors, and has been going way back 18+ years; saw that issue on my E39's. Replacing the 10 buck gasket can be bit of a pain due to having to remove other components to get to it; sometimes the intake manifold presents problems on this part of the work. He'd be smart to have the tranny fluid changed at his mileage, if he's got an automatic |

I thought the thermostat has an extended limited warranty? I got a letter from BMW last year saying so, but then mine is a 2012 328i.
