Front windshield cracked

Safelite quoted $860 out the door and that's OEM glass from BMW. How does it sound?

I've seen much more ridiculous numbers quoted for this job so that price is reasonable. Searching a bit it seems like close to $1000 is the avg cost to have it done.

Silly, but have you made sure your insurance doesn't cover?

Yeah I called the insurance and I'd have to have glass coverage for it to be covered but I don't so it sucks that it's going to be out of pocket

It is a nice piece of mind to have it on your policy, plus it is dirt cheap to have added. Best of luck on the repairs!

I just had this done, no glass coverage, but it was covered under comprehensive for me. Still a $500 deductible I had to pay but better than the ~$1k it would have been otherwise.

I can't remember not having glass coverage, nor ever having to ask for it, it's pretty much automatic unless you specifically decline it. If you have it chip repair is usually free, insurance companies would rather pay to fix a chip before it turns into a crack than to replace the windshield after it does.

Around $700 is good
Farmers has a rider you can add for around $20

Yeah Safelite is getting from BMW so it's Pilkington and that sounds about right, they quoted me $769 I think

Idk about other insurances but I think for Farmers, one has to specifically state that but anyways, I am going to add it, it's about $5 extra per month and that's nothing.
