Definitely change both at once.

I would go with a Bilstein B6 if I were in your situation.

I bought my rears (I have B8) for about $250 and installation was VERY EASY.

I would just replace the damaged one with a used one that's in good condition.
Shouldn't cost that much and there are plenty around.

If you plan on lowering the car I would just go ahead and send it on a set of coil overs. I just finished installing my solowerks.

Not recommended to replace single shocks. Can be done if you want I suppose...

No reason to though when you can get top of the line aftermarket rears for dirt cheap!

Agreed.

Just installed Bilstein B8 with AC Schnitzer spring kit and car rides like gold.

With new front mounts and all hardware $1275 in parts. Free install.

If looking for a cheap replacement... just a set of quality rear shocks will make a BIG difference, I promise!

You wont want B8 though unless lowering. B6 is the best you can buy for standard ride height.

Before installing KW V2's I was in a similar situation where my rear 704 shocks were shot. They've got really poor life so I would not recommend buying ANY used OE dampers especially since new ones are so cheap. Replaced both rears with Bilstein B6 and traction was greatly improved and the "floatiness" was also reduced quite a bit. DIY is really easy.

Do not replace only one shock at a time, you want front to back weight transfer to not favor one side over another, especially with an open differential.

Thanks for reaffirming my sentiments for OP. A lot of good advice here to get him sorted out.
