from what i read you guys won't need to camp out as they will stock plenty. And since you have to get the phone activated in the store, I also read that there would be a lot of delays unless you're part of the early crowd . My opinion is to wait and go during the middle of the week on a weekday. I doubt they will run out

What color you looking to get? 8gb or 16gb? You know you have to activate each phone at the time of purchase, right? Buy two, activate two at the store.
I was thinking of waiting early in the morning, but I am concerned about the battery life. I thought this review of the phone was interesting. http://ptech.allthingsd.com/20080708...per-iphone-3g/ "Bottom line: If you've been waiting to buy an iPhone until it dropped in price, or ran on faster cell networks, you might want to take the plunge, if you can live with the higher service costs and the weaker battery life. The same goes for those with existing iPhones who love the device but crave faster cellular data speeds. But if you already own an iPhone, and can usually use Wi-Fi for data, you probably should hold off and get the free software upgrade before deciding whether it's worth getting the new hardware." I had the OG iPhone for a year so the newness of the phone has worn off for me. The only major difference for non-business users is the 3g capability and GPS. Most of the other features are available from via a software update on the older model. Due to the new price point, the phone has lost some of its exclusivity which was a reason to dish out the big bucks for it. Data costs more monthly too. Good luck camping. Hope you get yours. |

only concern i have is the fact that with my current blackberry I haev a family plan with an additional phone that's under contract. mine phone is eligible for an upgrade, but I'm not sure how that would work having the family plan. oh well. i dont plan on getting it tomorrow anyway so i'll have to call them up

i went last year for my iPhone. Got there at noon and the phone was released at 6pm. Waste of time since they didn't even sell out the 1st day or 1st weekend for that matter. I don't think you'll need to camp out for the new one. I might pick a new one up depending on how big my check is tomorrow.

What i heard is that some stores got less than 100 units so i guessing there will be some people waiting. At the at&t stores you have to activate it there so I guess it will keep the crowd down hopefully.

with so many AT&T stores around, that's probably your better chance.. Apple is where everyone wants to go, but i dunno why when there's so many AT&T stores around
