Rear diffuser. Painted or non-painted?
I have two rear diffusers for my car. A gloss black painted one and a standard plastic finished one. I currently have the gloss black painted one on, but I'm not sure if I'd prefer the non painted one better. With the car being black I think the painted one blends in a little too much compared to the non-painted one. Plus the front splitter is not painted.
What do you think would look better?

i like painted since it looks finished and easier to care for. i can't stand unpainted black plastic that you have to care for with plastic care products. it looks unfinished, because, it is. i would've painted the front splitter and changed the exhaust tips to the black chrome as well.
if i really wanted contrast i would paint it matte/satin but still care for it as a painted surface. |

Non-painted for the diffuser, 110% for me. There's a reason why you don't see them painted on exotics/supercars as a color-coated and glossy finish just makes it look tacky and you lose the 'pop' of that aggressive contrasting element. This is my opinion and that of many automotive designers and big wigs yadidimean?! Matte carbon or leave it that satin black plastic finish imo but remember, you do you bruh.

I think the diffuser and splitter will tie in better together with both in their matte natural finish. Especially on a black car. Maybe the gloss black diffuser would be better suited on lighter coloured cars.. Plus you mad a good point about performance cars tending to have matt diffusers!

Textured/matte lower valences (lips, diffusers), painted upper valences (spoilers, etc.) This is the rule of thumb because your lower valances take the biggest beating. Painting it just means the rock chips will show up easier.

That's what I'm talkin' 'bout; understated, sleek, and aggressive, all at the same time.

Well I fitted the unpainted diffuser back onto the car today and I'll so glad I did. For one it looks so much better and a nice contrast to the bumper. The other reason is the paint job was an extremely cheap one. A quick sanding and painted straight on top of the diffuser! I ended up peeling away the paint with ease straight off the diffuser. Pics attached

+1 on unpainted diffuser. Alternatively paint the fins like they do on the M Performance models.

Joining this thread a bite late and adding another vote for non-painted diffuser. It looks great with certain colors.
