Panel fitment

I’ve just noticed that the corner of the front bumper on the drivers side sticks out about 1-2mm where the bumper meets the wing. I’ve looked at the paintwork with a fine tooth comb, and it hasn’t been hit. Has anyone else noticed their panels sitting slightly proud anywhere on the car?

Oh yes.

I have just returned the X3 30D beause nearly every panel was out. That and poorly fitting trims on door handles and the wrong colour centre armrest!

My dealership have been first class with it all thank.goodness.

Mine looks like that on the passenger side, but the drivers side is slightly out. We’re not talking a huge amount, and most people wouldn’t notice it, but now I’ve seen it, I can’t unsee it!

That’s how it should look.

I wonder how easy it is to get them lined up properly? They’re quite close to the wing, so I wouldn’t want anything to be painted etc.

Does anyone know if this is easy to rectify?

Would be a lot easier to comment if you posted a pic. But the way the bumpers attach it would be trivial to adjust the joint where they meet the bodywork.

True. The bumper facia is plastic and flexible. Easy fix.

Every time I try posting photos on my iPad it says they’re too big and need to be resized - “The Dimension limits for this filetype are 2400 x 1500. We were unable to resize your file so you will need to do so manually and upload it again. Your file is currently 4032 x 3024“

This is the only forum I’m on where that happens. I don’t use a 3rd party hosting site, as I’ve never had to. Give me some tips how to post photos and I’ll stick some up.

are you using the app, or accessing the website in a browser?

I use the app, and I just tap the paperclip, choose whatever photo I want, and Bob's your uncle. These are 5mb files in the 4032x3024 as well.

If you use the app, I know there is a picture size limit feature... I've just never fiddled with it.

****

And I just checked. Mine is set to maximum, which us like 1600x1200. And I've never had issues uploading.

Maybe it's an apple issue

On android it's called bimmerpost. I would just assume it's the same for ios as well. IMO, its tons better for a handheld device.

For our windows-based PC I've always used FastStone Photo Resizer, freeware available online. Just choose the pixel size you wish and it'll convert the image to that size (I use 1200x900 routinely).

I've never tried to resize on my iPhone, but given your question I just looked online and found methods for resizing. Here was one example of a link: https://www.imore.com/how-crop-resiz...phone-and-ipad . In their section on 'How to resize photos on your iPhone and iPad', they mention the app 'Image Size'. So I just downloaded it and within less than 30 sec was able to choose a photo from my phone's album and resize to 1200 x 900.

I've been meaning to find a resizer app for my phone, so thanks for your question, and hope this helps you as well.

It looks like your referring to this spot here (circled in red on my car). If so, yeah, I can see why it might drive you nuts. It's definitely out by more than what should be considered acceptable.

Yeah, looks to me like either both the arch and bumper got pushed out, or the fender got pushed in. Either way, 2 out of 3 parts don't agree with the remaining one! So something is out of whack and it's either a quick adjustment or a clue something got disturbed.

Yep, that’s it. I went to the dealer today, and it’ll be booked in and sorted ASAP.
