F30 misterious socket under radio/climate
Hello,
my car is a BMW 318d Sport, year 2012 (F30). I noticed a small hole below the central block with the radio and climate controls, under the bottom cover which hides the hard disk compartment, where you put your hand to open the small compartment with the cigarette-lighter like socket. The hole is very difficult to look at, since it's on the ceiling of the cavity. I had a look at it by means of a small mirror. I was expecting to find a screw there, but instead I can clearly see a bipolar connector with a shape that I cannot name. I googled quite a bit but could not find any reference to this socket. Anyone knows? Last edited by enrico.menotti; 07-20-2018 at 02:33 AM.. |

Are you referring to what is above the cup holder or cigarette lighter? Like a little hole there? If so that is a light for the cup holder. It isn't super bright or anything but turn on the lights in your car and you should be able to see it

Oh, a light... Thanks. I will try tonight with the dark. I can see there clearly a small PCB, that's why I was thinking of a socket.
I haven't been able to take any picture of the thing, due to the uncomfortable position. Maybe I could try with the front camera of a smartphone; if I get a picture, I will post it here later. Thanks! |
