M40D Ordered

Went in to order the 30D but there is a delay with the black with blue stitching and sensatec dash.
They are only doing it on the 40's just now till next year.....

So took the plunge on the 40D. Bit more expensive but looking forward too it

Not a huge spec but all I need.
Phytonic blue
M sport plus pack with 21"
Black and blue stitch
Pano roof

Could change colour tomorrow haha

I’m actually trying to get hold of my chap to change away from the black/blue to oyster after sitting in both at my local dealer today.
The black & blue is nice, but I have oyster now and I think I’d miss it 😂

Well done that man. I’ve already changed mine... now on carbon black with black vernasca and oyster stitching. I liked the oyster leather but don’t like the oyster on the lower dash! White ivory is nice but not practical - we’ll be towing horses from time to time and there’s no way I’d be wanting to get marks on it.

What deleivery have you been quoted?

Yeah, it's just practicality for me too. Have not seen the blue yet but it will suit me I think.

Being told late September....... won't bank on it.
When did you order yours and what time you been given?

I’ve said it before, choosing the optional extras is easy - you either want them or you don’t, but paint, trim, and leather!!! I thought my head was going to explode at one stage. I initially chose Fiona red and black Merino which, I think, makes the car look very special, but I got to thinking that I might tire of it after 6 months or so!

I have oyster in my current 335 F31 and to be fair, keeping it clean hasn’t been much of a problem. Maybe it’s because it’s dakota leather - like plastic, and is resilient? I think the Merino leather is more delicate and I’d get a bit too precious with it. If there was a choice of black Merino I would have gone with that though.

I’ve been told October. Maybe it’s in the hope they can bring me good news and announce a earlier delivery?

I had the same experience, as I really wanted the sensatec dash and alu feinschilff interior panels. Alu is not available on 2019 models anymore and sensatec delayed to week 18, 2019. Dealer gave me his max discount on the m40d but was still more than I wanted to spend so decided to forget about the Sensatec.
But he called me yesterday and he was able to get a production slot with sensatec dash for delivery in September. When is your delivery planned?
30d is a beast so I guess 40d is going to be crazy haha, enjoy it man and good luck with the wait

Yeah, in fairness i drove the 30d at the weekend and was very impressed. I would say its ideal for my daily driver. So in a way i was quite dissapointed once i was told about the black/blue combo.

The upside is i love the 21" wheels on the M40 and it will be a beast. Overkill maybe, but you are only young once

Yup, i really dont expect to see mines before October mate. As long as it does not turn into Nov/Dec than i am ok with that.

Are you keeping the M40D badge on the back of yours?

Yes same thought here. I ordered the 21" wheels as well, really gives a strong look to the car.

Did you compare a 40i with a 40d in terms of cost. Can only get a 40i price at the moment.

For info... I’ve just read a recent editorial on the 40d; it makes exactly the the same amount of torque as the the F10 M5.

Same cost but I got 11% discount on 40D which is great considering it's new model

What i have noticed which i think is areal shame in the newer X3's dont have the gas strut in the boot compartment anymore. Thought that was a really good idea. Now it like a split lid if that makes sense.

Really? That's a shame, I really liked that small addition.

Yeah, me too.

Dealer said they never done it for long. Not quite sure why they dropped it. Cost no doubt.

I actually thought it was part of the storage package (adding sliding tethers, extra power ports, etc etc).

My X3 has the split trunk bottom, but its not a huge deal. I even found that at the far left side of the trunk cover storage, there's a recessed area you can use for additional storage. Its actually decent size too.

But yeah, realizing no gas strut was a bit of a sad moment.
