High gloss piano black interior trim
Hi guys, got the high gloss black interior trim on parts of the car. Found a few really light scratches on it by the gear selector. Anyone know if anyway or any good products to lift out the scratches?
Also, how the hell do you clean that without scratching it |

Nearly impossible to keep piano black scratch free IMO. Enjoy the car and don't sweat the small things!

You need a small polisher like a Rupes iBrid and a soft compound. To clean either use compressed air or a MF towel with a quick detailer and verrrrry gentle pressure. I hate piano black trim. It'll scratch if you look at it the wrong way.

The piano black trim is very sensitive for scratches, I really like the look but the way it attracts scratches and dust makes it a big no-go for me.
Anyway, like pheerlx suggests, get a small polisher and clean it very gentle. I would not try to do much to it as it could only get worse.

So im getting the impression that "suck it up and live with it" is the best approach here? They are very light scratches, and only really visible in direct sunlight. Don't want to make it worse

I had the piano black in my X1 and now have it in my X3. I like the way it looks but shows every single little piece of dust and scratches way too easy. I used to keep a MF towel in the center armrest and just very lightly brush the dust away or one of those MF dust brushes. . I like the compressed air idea but a little weary about keeping a can of it in my car.
Does anyone think it would be possible to use a clear film similar to window tint film or something of the sort to apply over it? Or is that just silly? |

Considering the nature of the piano black surface, and its location, I'd say it's more normal to want to wrap it vs the touchscreen. |

I actually hate the piano black trim, has anyone heard anything about being able to replace it with carbon fibre or satin like trim?

By the way, what's the difference between the High Gloss black interior (Option 4LU) and the Individual Piano high gloss black panels (Option 4ML)? Is there a real visible difference or is it just naming convention for the same product?
According to BMW individual description the piano black are made from tulipwood and the paint is applied the same way as on premium piano's. Guys can share any pics who has the high gloss black and someone the individual piano black trim? Maybe faffoocasey can for the high gloss black?

I found some other threads on bimmerpost for different models. It looks like the standard black trim is just plastic and the piano black is real wood.
https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1446518 I was really against this interior option but didn't really had a choice, the alu feinschliff I wanted isn't available anymore and I don't like the rhombicle sport trim. So dealer gave me the Individual Piano gloss option free of charge.
