Got my first!

Hello recently purchased a 09 335xi (97k miles). Any tips or advice on making sure she lasts? I’m also moving to California more specifically Travis Afb & was looking to find bmw meets or car meets in general if any one knows of any. Also is warranty for the fuel pump only applicable to the 07/08 ? I apprieicate all info!

To make sure it lasts...quite simple. Don’t drive it.

Nah it will still fall apart.

On a more serious note, just keep up with the maintenance. I lift the hood on my vehicles once a week just to check fluid levels, and look for leaks or issues. Many times cars will give you warning signs before something goes wrong. Since you just bought the car, I'd say changing all the fluids would be a good place to start so you have a baseline.

Always do maintenance first and mods later. Doesn't matter how much HP your car makes if you're on the side of the road because a coolant hose broke.

I agree with CTinline-six. If you plan on having it for the long run, the best thing you can do is have a vested interest in fixing your car now. One of the mistakes I made when I first bought my BMW was pay $100 for diagnostics ...everytime the SES came on....you can easily buy a OBD2 reader for our cars or even a Carista (40 buck) to read the codes yourself. Nice car by the way and best of luck.

Op....the guys make good points. I will add look into a extended warranty. I added a 4yr when I purchased my 2011 E91. Which still has 2yrs left on it. This was priceless, especially with a older BMW. Shit breaks and isn’t cheap!

As a broke college student myself, I second what BrokeCollegeStudent said.

Stay on top of maintenance!

If you're like me it's easy, because your desire to fix and take preventative action is hindered only by restricted cash flow. When something breaks or shows signs of failing, I'm happy to diagnose and replace. It's a type of therapy for me. My car has over 180,000 miles and is still going strong. But if you're the type who doesn't enjoy DIY'ing and would rather avoid excessive maintenance, then unfortunately you bought the wrong car. I doubt that's the case though.

You can have a long and rewarding ownership so long as you don't get complacent. In other words, block off every weekend from now until the time you plan to sell it so that you can stay on top of maintenance

Nice car, btw! Love the blue.

Best way to make a 335i last long is to toss in a JB4, select the map with max boost, never change the engine oil, and make sure to redline it when it's cold. Have fun!
