Rust concerns e91 2011

Hi all.
I'm not at all a mechanic or close to being one, but I was wondering if anyone could tell me if I should be worried about the rust forming and what I should do about it? Please see attached images.
Thanks in advance!

That's nothing to worry about. A few rusty bolts is normal. Keep it clean and you coat those parts in something like Fluidfilm before next winter.

Thanks! I'm still a little worried about the differential, since I've always noticed a slight whine from there.

the differential is completely sealed, or it would be leaking. it can't rust internally unless it leaks.

Diff whine usually indicates bearings are on their way out. I've got a whine from my front diff; I just live with it. My car has 180k miles, and I don't plan on ever fixing it unless something grenades.

FWIW the rust on my car is much worse, and she's still going strong.

+1 for normal

I'm in FL but the 328xi I recently bought is from NJ. Mine looks similar. My mechanic said its just surface rust and nothing to worry about.

Yeah that car is donezo. If it helps I can buy some parts from you to help ease your financial loss.
