Anyone tried getting something out of it? I haven't lost anything important in there yet but I'm sure it'll happen. I know on my E46 you have to damn near rip out the floor panels? I really wish they would put some sort of grating over these.

In my 2014 x1, my mother lost her lipstick in my car. We searched and searched and couldn’t find it. A few days later I looked again and low and behold, it was actually on the inside of this under seat vent. It’s not very deep but if I remember correctly, I was able to remove it with a long screw driver.

You could wrap it with a black or grey nylon or other mesh to keep things from falling into it.
