Black Leatherette/vinyl vs leather color

I'm trying to find a reasonably priced way to get my driver seat cover taken care of. The sensatac / leatherette / vinyl seat covers are seriously cracked on my sport drivers seat. I cannot find a new or used unit for a reasonable price and the upholstery shop said a goo based fix was going to look like crap.

How close are leather and fake leather seats in color? Seems easier to get a leather seat setup. I'd have leather seats and vinyl center console and rear.

My D/S seat bolster is also cracking...

It could just be me, but the black leatherette and black leather do look different enough that I think you'd notice.

That said I wouldn't hesitate to swap out some or all of the seats for leather-trimmed ones if given the chance.

Assuming you already have a donor car, is there a reason you wouldn't also swap out the rear bench?

I have black leather fronts and rette rear and you can't tell the difference as far as color is concerned.

The vinyl is pretty matte, I’ll have to look at how the leather looks.

Aside from cracking, I like the vinyl a lot. I suspect the issue was the cold winters and maybe a pliability difference between the warmed center and sides in colder temps
