Dealership service means no BMW ever again?

Love BMW cars, can't stand my local service.

I had a E90 335xi previously that they gave me a bunch of hassles with under warranty, tightened the microfilter assembly with an impact stripping all the cowl threads among many other things I don't even want to think about.

This time I brought my 340i in for yearly service and mentioned exhaust tips were pitting, rear emblem corroding and wheel center caps also corroding.

They ordered the parts to replace with the service, cool, no worries.

I got the car home and noticed wtf, there's paint missing around the center caps on each wheel... looks like they removed the center caps with a pick instead of removing each wheel and popping them out from the back. I called and explained, they tell me they have a mobile wheel repair guy that fixes things like this, drop it off etc

Ok, still being cool I dropped it off for the wheel repair guy to fix the tech's mistake and come back to pick it up... oh great, wheel repair guy ripped paint off the lug bore holes removing/replacing the wheels as he had them off to repair the center bore damage... awesome.

I said at this point i'm done dicking around, send this mobile repair guy to my work next week or soon after and he can do it there... this is ridiculous.

She said she'd "inquire" for him to do that, never called me back, I called several more times asking until I finally got the "you'll need to bring it here or we'll pick it up". I said well i'll drop it off again and I guess you win this round wasting more time.

Today I dropped it off, courtesy vehicle wasn't waiting like usual and I was instructed to go to the "courtesy vehicle door", walk inside and they'll get me a car. I walked in there, waited 5 minutes with no one present and walked back to the service lane and asked here how about you page someone over there, nobody's there and I need to get to work.

So whatever someone shows up, I get a 530xi pos and i'll go back later to see if somehow, maybe, they managed to unfuck the wheels.

I was considering a M2 CS... but due to service i'm going to have to be done with a brand I really like.

But what good does that do me? the nearest dealer from this one is 1hr away in any direction. Anything I buy from the brand will put me back with these people. I already gave 0 on the review and they're mad about that.

Thats awful. I don't blame you. I wouldn't give them your business. As much as I love my bimmer, if my only choice for service sucked that much, I would look at Audi and Mercedes.

The worst part is they really don't care, they want to move 320i leases to people that want to look important to people they don't know.

Also this is the same dealer that back in 2008 when I test drove a 135i as the demos just arrived, I offered 500 over invoice and they wouldn't budge on MSRP telling me they "do clean deals here", I walked... bought a new Corvette and the salesperson calls me a month later asking if i'm still interested in a 135i... I explained I bought a new Corvette already because he wouldn't play ball and he said "enjoy that piece of shit then" and hung up.

Damn, guess I'm glad I live within 50 miles of 8 different bmw dealerships. Sorry to hear about your sh*t experience with a bad dealer.

The nearest dealers to me are both an hour and a half away. The same for Lexus, Audi, Mercedes and Infinity. I could go to a Ford or Toyota dealer that's within walking distance, but then I'd have to drive a Ford or Toyota.

With all these problems have you ever reached out to BMWNA? Spoken to the service manager? Sales manager? You're getting annoyed but not taking proactive steps to improve the situation.

I did you made no mention of escalating to anyone. And you're not doing yourself any favors with how you're choosing to handle this but it's not my problem so good luck and god bless. Have fun with your car.

Please elaborate, i'm not doing myself any favors by not playing a bitchy karen at the service manager that doesn't give one fuck about it either? I know he saw the 0 star survey. He didn't call. He didn't care last time they fucked up. BMW NA didn't care either, so why bother?

According to you, you’re done with the brand and convinced that no one at any level at BMW is going to do anything to change your mind, so I guess I’m wondering why you are bothering to post here?

Just to vent to a bunch of people who can’t do squat about your troubles? I could see some usefulness to the thread if you were trying to warn people off about a poor dealership, but you’ve never even named them.

They'll be named in the first post when I get the car back and decide if i'm calling BMW NA or not.

Doesn't matter, he has a point. If the service manager gets punished and changes their habits, or it pushes the dealership to hire new help, that wouldn't be a bad thing. Right now all they're doing is billing BMWNA and moving on to messing up the next car. That's why nothing is changing.

Normally i'd agree but can anyone cite a time that BMW or any manufacturer ever did anything to force a privately owned dealership to improve?

I spoke with BMW NA when things happened with that CPO 335xi, they did nothing that i'm aware of.

Long story short on that one, I bought an aftermarket warranty soon as CPO expired and a local independent shop corrected all the things BMW said was fine (like jerking to a stop light cause the injectors were bad but it wasn't setting a fault code) and I sold it to someone I know and it's still working beautifully to this day. This dealer told me that starting a 335i with a N54 cold and it giving you a back massage from the misfires was "expected behavior" of that engine LOL.

That service writer isn't there anymore but he made sure to tell me that he worked at Nissan for 18 years so he's certain that without a fault code on a modern vehicle.... nothing is wrong with it. Fucking tool.

Well I went to pick it up, repair is visually ok now but the wheel repairman didn't sand the surface so the finish is very coarse, dealership said yeah you're right if you want new wheels we'll order them... so I guess we're doing that.
