Maintenance package, extended warranty, etc.

What is the general consensus on the extended maintenance package, extended warranty, etc? I bought the 7 year year 100k warranty, not cheap, but for peace of mind. The maintenance package was also very expensive, and I'm still trying to decide if it's worth it. I'm also not convinced it covers CCB, but probably won't wear out these rotors before 100k anyway without track usage. At 5k extra, seems unlikely I'll get my money's worth in maintenance, but maybe I'm overlooking something.

Did anyone else opt for these ?

from what i understand:
i dont think they cover wear and tear... so for example if your brakes or tires wear out from just usage that's still on you

the warranty would come in to play if like, they failed for some reason

and the maintenance package just means when you need service done, it'll cover the basic service with the package; scheduled fluid changes, checkups, etc...

It is lamentable that sheer profit motivation rescinded what was an exceptional luxury car purchase benefit, namely the 4 year/50,000 mile included maintenance. Now BMW is just lumped in with all the rest and nickel and dimes you for everything. It does eliminate the incentive, however, to have every service done at an authorized BMW dealership. I would use a highly qualified indy mechanic in a minute now that BMW isn't covering my scheduled maintenance.

I skipped the extended warranty and instead purchased Geico’s mechanical breakdown protection, which covers everything on the car for 7 years/100k miles for $180/year + a $250 deductible if you need something fixed. It works flawlessly and is super easy to use with any mechanic, even the dealer service center.

I did purchase the complete maintenance for 6 years/100k miles since it covers brake pads and rotors if you have steel rotors. $4800. I’ll definitely need new pads and rotors within that timeframe.

That is an amazing deal and almost too good to be true. Did you check with Geico to see if the M5 is covered and if there are any exclusions?

Yes, and I've had it for 3 other cars. It's amazing and covers everything on the car, bumper to bumper. It's priced per car so on my 4Runner it's $48/year.

I checked with USAA, they have something similar. it doesn't cover normal wear and tear. it was 2900 for 7yrs/100000mi.

It has to be added in the 1st 12 months of the car's life and carried throughout the 7 years. That's the only catch.

Hmm so what happens if it's just a lease, or you sell the car before the 7 years are up?

Why would you get an additional warranty for a lease? BMW gives you a full warranty for 3 years.

If you sell the car before the 7 years, it’s gone since it’s non-transferable.

If you purchased the car, this is such an astounding deal you basically have to switch to Geico and take advantage of it.
