SoCal CAs/Dealers playing ball?

Are there any SoCal CAs/Dealers playing ball? I've reached out to a handleful with a very detailed email justifying the aggressive deal I was going after on an m40i. Not much response. Even using their website chat's and 'click here for more info' forms isn't resulting in much. Are deals so bad right now that dealers would blow these off?

I feel for you. In my experience it is hard to find a dealer who will give a good deal over email. For some reason they want to meet you and know you're serious before they give much. I know there are a handful out there who do get aggressive with online just from reading on forums but nothing I'm familiar with.

There are only two times I worked a deal over email, the first one (Audi) took some back and forth initially for the salesman to build up some investment in the conversation and then when the deal was worked out and I flew to get it they tried to switch things up at the last minute and raise the price on me, include accessories I didn't want, etc.

The second time (Volvo) was a Costco deal and it was a dream. I searched via the Costco auto app, clicked a button, got an email saying "that will be $1000 below invoice, take it or leave it", I bought the car, then Costco followed up to ensure I got the deal I expected.

I went through the same rigamarole and cross shopped the X3 with an SQ5. My last 3 cars where all european delivery so it was super easy and the savings were immense. Since these X cars are made here in the states that was no longer an option.

I sent tons of dealerships emails with the current month’s base MF and residual so that we could get past that immediately and so there was no misunderstandings on my knowledge of leasing. Most ignored me. I even reached out to dealers as far as NorCal and San Diego, as well, just to see the disparity in pricing and customer handling. There were definitely rude tough guys that tried strong arming me and some gals that played up the sweetness card and texted me M Logos and emoticons to get my business. For the most part, it was a waste of time.

Ultimately, i just hit up Greg Poland in Glendale BMW (i know i know) He is one of the top M salesmen in the country and has his own standalone building across the street from the dealer to do his business. He traded for a car in Berekeley with the options I wanted and gave me a great deal. On par with the best deals in the ordering thread in the stickies. And it was a very painless ordeal. Cheers.

Hey, I just joined the forum. Got a fairly loaded X3 M40i last Thursday. Total 16.4% including $2500 in rebates/incentives/credits off of MSRP. Out of the 10-12 dealerships I dealt with most blew a lot of smoke. Only three came with a strong initial offer. One started with 10% right off the bat, another came down to 10% after second email, and one gave me an incredible initial offer. Wherever you go, bring your $1500 BMW loyalty credit, do a BMW Driving Event for 1K credit, and BMW CCA for $500 ($134 three year membership fee). There are also corporate and USAA credits but you have to check how they stack with the other ones. Be patient, there are a lot of M40i's sitting on Socal dealer lots.

Care to name the dealers that were responsive to your query? I’m a fellow SoCal resident, and will be ordering as soon as the ZDA/ZDB situation is resolved...

socalhawki,

Even though I'm up on the central coast, I'd be willing to travel for a great deal. So let us know the names of the dealers with aggressive pricing.

On my 2019 X3m40i, I received $5500 in rebates and $5800 off MSRP, total is a bit over 17% off MSRP.
Helps that I bought 3 new M vehicles from the same dealership in the past 5 years.

My rebates included:
$1000 recent grad
$1500 loyalty
$2000 APR credit at 2.25 BMW Financing
$500 USAA (Now combinable with APR credit)
$500 BMW CCA rebate (now combinable with USAA)

I would had gotten another $1000 rebate if the vehicle was in stock (OL code) but it was ordered to spec.

I chose BMW select, which has a balloon payment at the very end (60 months) of 23089.50.
My monthly payments is $658.

If I chose the regular financing, it would had been $1022 a month

I think it's regional. Most DC area dealerships offer it at this time
