Blower motor running all the time

hello Bimmers,

Recently I went to a LA trip from San Jose. Heat of the journey made me turn on my air conditioner and after that I just don't get my blower turn OFF at all !!
I tried turning OFF AC controls but it just wouldn't turn OFF. Its kind of annoying to hear that all the time when you are looking to have a peaceful journey.

Was it always there and I just didn't notice because of the music running or I am missing something (don't know the controls) ?

Jfya, the recalls on my vehicle, 2007 328Xi, hasn't been completed and it is nearing 100k. I bought it used last year and ran 3k till date w/ no issues but this.

Are you just pushing the AC button? To turn off your blower (not the AC) you have to turn down the speed of the fan, you should have the button to increase and decrease. Hit decrease until the blower turns off..

+1 on this.

But if it isn't this and your HVAC display is off AKA blower off, it's likely your e-box fan that you're hearing. They can become noisy as they age, and unfortunately the only recourse is replacement or to disconnect it.

I did try all of it. Decreasing the fan speed, pushing the Auto button, but none helped. If I turned the knobs (0->1) to blow inside to the driver and passengers through the vent, noise will subside but if I turned the knobs off (1->0), noise will be greater and come right from the flat center of the dashboard !! I just noticed it recently. Need to dig deep because I can't have this running all the time !! May be time for 100k service as well !!

Need to explore more on e-box !! I sure haven't heard it this loud before !! Is it anyways related to the blower motor recall? I know that has something to do with the wiring's being burnt off but somehow ?

Time to replace your blower regulator. I had this issue in my E46 a few years ago. I ignored it until one day on the way to work smoke started coming from the dash and vents.. the thing had completely shorted out but luckily it didn't catch fire.
The symptoms were the blower would either not come on when it should, it would pulse slowly, and/or it would run when supposedly in the Off setting (this was usually slow fan speed, and even happened when the car was off! Lol)

Can you share a sound clip or Youtube of this blower noise?

Could be related to the recall (damaged blower motor wiring shorting out)? You can easily inspect the wires in 5 minutes though. Follow steps 1-3 in the following guide. The wires are pointed out in step 5:
