Just pulled the trigger on a loaded silver/cognac/dark oak/20s M40i to replace the nice but uninspiring F25 3.5. A bunch of incentives brought the price below invoice and also expecting the bmwcca rebate! I was really expecting my next car would be all electric, but the exhaust note of the M40i is too entertaining to pass up.. Question about the driving mode programming - can you set an individual program to change modes via the paddle shifters? For example, if I’m being green and cruising along in eco and want to pass someone, can I program the car to go to comfort or sport mode if I use the shift paddles?

Don’t think so - but I may be wrong.

Adaptive mode may help - but not exactly what you are wanting.

You can push the gear lever to the left to activate the sport program for gearbox which keeps the revs higher or use the paddles to drop down a gear or two
