Amp with stock speakers?

Has anyone run either the Bav Soundworks or Bimmer sound works amp with the stock Hifi system? It seems like the stock speakers are fine, just under powered so they distort. Would this be an accurate statement?

There's not much headroom with the stock amp, so an upgrade wouldn't hurt. Just be sure that you at least double the power, or it won't be worthwhile.
