Tracking UK delivery

Hey guys,

My order Now has a status of departed plant, and I remember reading somewhere that some of you guys are able to track ships etc. I am extremely impatient so seeing any progress keeps my (admittedly sad) fascination satisfied.

Any tips or tricks?

EDIT: I know I can talk to BMW Genius team online, but all they seem to be able to tell me is departed plant.

Sadly BMW UK isn’t set up for tracking online. Your sales rep may get a bit more info from their system.

My status was at departed plant for just under 4 weeks and then it changed to status 9610 - Port of Exit once it was in Europe. Neither the online genius or the dealer had any update available in between these two events, they didn’t even know whether it was on a boat.

it seems to be different everywhere you look.

I've heard other people in Canada have had success tracking their train cars, but my rep said he didnt have any tracking info, and to just harass him for updates.

I don't think he realizes I want to be texting him like 5 thousand times a day for updates...

I believe all the cars come over on Wallenius Wilhelmsen ships from Charleston.

A bit of guesswork might be required, but if you can get a screenshot of your order from your dealership, that will give an expected / possible due date with them.
From there you can probably work out when the car is due Southampton and on the WW website you can see which ships are due at that time.

Have a look on here -

https://www.2wglobal.com/webapps?min...ScheduleRWD%2F

and search for Charleston to Southampton sailings. Some ships go via Bremerhaven before calling at Southampton.

I see there is a ship leaving Charleston on 30th May . . . good luck.

Are all UK-bound cars still coming from the US and not from the new plant in SA?

I'm now at week 4 of departed plant, and each Monday by estimated delivery date gets pushed back by a week. Anyone else experiencing similar?

Mine finally arrived at the dealer after multiple delays. Took possession on Monday.
Hang in there

(reviving old thread!!)

I currently have an X3 m40i en route to the UK (build date 18/01). It's very annoying that there is no way to track which ship the car is on. Well... very annoying is perhaps going a bit far but I like to be able to watch it's progress! I checked the schedules noted above and there is a fair chance it's on the Arc Integrity but who knows!

How come the US get proper order tracking and here in the UK all the BMW 'genius' can tell you is that it's "with their logistics partner"...

I assume there is no way for us UK guys to track the shipping progress?

I wish - I’ve tried both the dealer & Genius to try find out more info but all they can tell me is it’s status 9000...
My delivery date seems to be +/- 10 days at the moment - sometime mid March is the best guess

Depends on the factory where it's build. If it's from South Africa you can track it. If it's from the US, it's limited to a few ships by a specific carrier.

When I ordered my Q5 you could track it through production and en route to Europe (the factory is in Mexico).

Some clever person had found out the shipping company Audi use and the ships schedules and even a tracker for the trips so you could tie in the date the car was shipped against one of the ships leaving port and track that ship.

However, my car was delayed and in trying to find out timescales, Audi UK advised the car was still waiting to get on the ship in Mexico, and the dealer said it had left Germany on the way to the UK and will be at the dealer in two weeks. I collected the car two weeks later.

Maybe that’s why BMW don’t offer a tracking facility as the Audi one was useless!

The same is possible with the X3 if you have the VIN.

I have tracked my car build in Rosslyn SA from Durban port till arrival in Bremerhaven.

For cars originating in Spartanburg it is possible if a vessel is from a specific shipping company.

Yea I tried searching the shipping company for the VIN but it seems you can’t do that any more. Still only 4-5 weeks to go so not too long to wait... Would be nice if it could be tracked though!

If your car is shipped with Wallenius Wilhemsen ships, you can track it from Spartanburg.

https://www.walleniuswilhelmsen.com/

Go to Menu in the upper right, click Track and Trace and enter your VIN.

They’ve stopped that tracking ability unfortunately.

Yea sadly the VIN tracking is no more - so left with guessing which ship the car might be on I guess... The BMW genius said my car wasn’t at sea yet because they have a status for that (it’s currently 9000 - departed plant since 18th January). However I thought that for vehicles coming over from the US, you don’t see that status and it will suddenly be either EU port of exit or port of entry... But who knows

I think the BMW Genius is based in India or something as it was pretty difficult to get the operator to understand what information I was after!

I asked them if they could just tell me what was on the screen they were looking at and the Genius said no!
Miserable git.

Anyway, my X4 was built in a couple of days (it seemed) and went from 5500-9000 on the 31st Jan and has been there ever since...
