Cross traffic warning in reverse
When backing out of a driveway or parking space, isn't Cross Traffic alert supposed to be active? I don't think I have to do anything manually....but, I've never received any warnings when there's traffic going by on my street when I'm backing out of my driveway. I do get warnings when I'm backing up if there's something directly behind me, but not for cross traffic. And, yes, I checked my settings and the feature is activated.
Please share your experiences with this feature.

For me, it's only worked if I also mash the Parking Assist or Panorama view buttons just before moving (every time). Stupid, as Toyotas and Hondas "just work".

I'll give that a shot, although it seems to me that it should just work automatically. Even my 2015 Mustang "just works".

The next step is probably to have the dealership look at it.

Another section on the same page of the owner's manual shows that in reverse there should be red warning lights, you're blind spot indicator in your mirror should activate, and you should hear a warning sound.

Yes I got it to work backing out of the garage and someone was driving fast in the alley. I did not see the car and the system notified me.

It hasn't been that often that I experience cross traffic, so when I read this thread I made a mental note to keep an eye out.
As luck would have it, about 20 minutes ago I parked near a parking lot entrance and while backing out someone pulled into the parking lot quickly and intercepted me. I got an audible alert and a red visual blink on the backup cam. I didn't have to do anything to enable this other than throwing it in reverse and pressing the gas. |

I have had the cross traffic warning in parking lots when a pedestrian came into the line.
I have also had the crossroads warning come on when a car was too aggressive at a traffic circle. It came on at the same time as my passenger said "eek" and grabbed the panic bar |

Definitely works in my car. Backed out of a driveway into busy street with a bit of a foliage obstructing view, and it beeped at me when a car going 35 mph or so was approaching. Saw the car, but it was still nice to have the additional warning.

You do not need Panoramic view to get the alert. |

Well, we can't seem to get cross-traffic alerts while moving forward, without manually activating either Parking Assist or Panoramic view, or using activation points. If you have some way of automatically activating cross-traffic alerts while moving forward, we'd love to hear about it.

I think you just need parking assist view to be activated, and not panoramic. I've had cases where I was in an intersection trying to make a left. People walked near the rear of my car, so my parking assist cameras went on, and when they were on, the cross traffic alert went on when a car was approaching on the front side.

I find it very useful as the cameras will turn on if someone is walking close to you or if a car behind or next to you gets close. |
