MY2018 vs MY2019 X3 M40 US Build

Hi all,
Looking to get into a MY2018 or MY2019 X3 M40. I have done a little searching and can't find any documentation on any changes from 2018 to 2019. Obviously 2018 the car received a huge upgrade, but are we expecting anything new in 2019? I know there was a shortage in M-Sport steering wheels a little while back. Is that still the case? I really want the M-Sport wheel so would waiting to place an order for MY2019 assure me of one?

Thanks!

I think it's doubtful that the 2019 will get the M-Sport wheel, now that it's been reported that the 2019 X4 will not get the M-Sport wheel either in the US. See KK1's post here: http://x3.xbimmers.com/forums/showpo...&postcount=475

I think the best you could hope for as far as major changes is the M-Sport Differential becoming available as an option. I think it's estimated to be a $1200 option.

Does the X3 really need the M-Sport Differential? I'd rather get a 2018 with xDrive at the base, versus starting off with a base 2019 with sDrive.. or am I missing something?

I was told by a bmw rep when I saw a 2019 S Drive on the lot that for 2019 the Driver Assistant package was standard and BMW had a new name for it. I can’t remember the name though. I was told that was the only change.

I wonder now that it's standard for 2019 whether the base price went up.

It’s hard to say because they have 2019 s drive models which are cheaper than the x drive models so there isn’t much to compare to until they release pricing for the 2019 x drive.

She/He might be wrong. Per the BMW pricing guide the drivers assistance package ZDA is $500. Maybe he meant it is cheaper than the 2018s which was $900. See here https://www.press.bmwgroup.com/usa/a...41EN_US/403418

I was told by my dealer they don't know if/what changes will be made to the 2019 xDrive models until further in the summer as the model year switch over at the plant is in August. I'd like to know myself when is SOP for the 2019s and what other changes. In another post they state the 2020s will have technical updates to the engines in the 30i with no hp changes and the M40i would be 385 hp.

Could very well be wrong. I didn’t see anything for my own eyes to substantiate. It wouldn’t be the first time someone at a dealership gave false information.

I assume there will not be any changes to the MY2019s other than maybe different option packages. Since the X30s is a MY2019 I don’t think theM40i will have any changes.

Just picked up a base 2019 sdrive so i can chime in with what I know so far. This is just for the sdrive so not sure what xdrive changes will be.

I have 2 bmw safety options installed standard not sure if 2018 got them also.

1) Pedestrian Warning
2) Front Collision Warning

Parking sensors are standard front and rear

One quick question. MY2019 starts first of august or later in august since the production week of my new x3 m40i is scheduled for week 32 which is mid august??

I see what you are saying. The 2019 sDrive30i has 5AV Active Guard standard and if you select the optional ZDA Drivers Assistance Package the price is reduced from $900 to $500. Thanks for pointing that out. It would be a nice safety move if BMW makes Active Guard standard across the line for model year 2019.
