Playing music through iphone 6s - wired

Hi guys

In my 330e the music would automatically play through the wired connection (instead of over bluetooth) when i plugged in my 6s. This gave better quality output.

On the 540i im doing the same thing but when i select my phone under the wired connections it doesnt allow me to play music. Instead it continues over Bluetooth.

Ive notice that pics on tracks now show up on the 540i over bluetooth whereas on the 330e they would only do that when it was plugged. I feel the bass is lacking over bluetooth (DAB tunes sound really good) hence i want to play music 'digitally extracted' from the iphone over the wire.

Any ideas?

I think you can set in iDrive that your phone only transfers calls and contacts over Bluetooth and not music - maybe that will help???

Look under mobile device settings.

Make sure you select the option in media that shows usb connection for your phone versus bluetooth

I had this same issue, but once you disable "Bluetooth audio" under mobile device settings (under the comms tile) it will stream via the lightning cable instead

Yep that was the way to do it. You have to disable bluetooth audio to get it sent over lightening, it is not an automatic switch!
