X3 30i Hood latch issues?

Anyone else have issues with the RF hood latch not enguaging unless an uncomfortable amount of force/slam is applied during closure?

iirc its also an aluminum hood which makes me even more uncomfortable with it.....AND the unlatched RF anchor fails to set off hood open alert.

Dealer gave the excuse on delivery that "They are ALL like this"......

I'm not sure what is uncomfortable force to you, but you do have to give it some force. I wouldn't say I slam it, but I keep my hands planted firmly on the hood as I close it and give some follow through push as it contacts. I wouldn't say I have to "slam" it but maybe a step below. I'd probably have to slam it if I wasn't firm in keeping my palms on the hood.

This IS a common thing. Occasionally forum members have published photos of their new car with a crooked hood because it wasn't closed properly.

I haven't yet decided if it's amusing or sad, but the manual does say to "energetically close the hood" ....

Close hood with hood at least a foot up, hands position on hood about where latches are and be sure to follow thru (keeping hands in contact with hood). A little grease on contact latches can’t hurt!

when i took delivery, the dealer said to "drop" the hood from about midway to ensure that it closes properly. he also said not to push it down after it's in the closed (but not properly latched) position as it may warp the hood...

I had the same issue and cured it by lowering the hood bumper just a small amount on that side and that took care of the issue. Hood is still level with the fender afterwards.
