Climate Control Auto Fan

When enabling Auto for the climate control, I expect the fan indicator to slowly ramp up or down based upon temp/fan need. The fan indicator remains static. Is this normal?

I know this one. Just discussed last week when I was at the dealer.
The fan speed you set is the maximum. So if it is at the lowest bar, and it is blazing hot it will just run at that slow speed forever. As you move the fan speed up, it will hit that new maximum speed you set, and the fan will slow down to maintain temperature. and go up in speed as necessary, but it will never exceed the speed level you manually set. And the indicator doesn't move as the fan changes speed.
Seems odd.

KTMF is correct. The fan is the maximum fan speed you want.

Ok...I find this a strange implementation of an Auto fan but I'll give this a try.

Thanks guys.

I think this BMW vid does a pretty good job explaining the entire climate control system. Hope it helps.

Good Lord...I just mentioned that in a different thread. Glad to know I just didn't understand it. I swear, one day I will read an owner's manual but since I change cars every 1-2 years, it seems like a waste of time....

I wonder why the hvac screen shows 3 vent positions available, yet the top one can never be chosen. I don't mean the front windshield position. Only the middle and bottom vent position can be used? First BMW that I've seen that operates this way.

Thanks for this — I was wondering about it as well. This is new... I even had to go into the manual to figure out how to open the hood!

Thanks but that video isn't from the X3 because that top vent position isn't available.
