F31 Tailgate problem
I’m new here and not sure which section this goes in, can a mod move it to the right section if it doesn’t go here.
Neither the boot or the window will open on my tailgate, it doesn’t even make a noise when I press either button on the back or the one in the car. If I climb through the backseats and pull the manual release cable then the boot will open, and the softclose works when pressing either button and I can here the motor pulling it at the final bit and it locks but won’t open again. There is a constant error on the dash that the boot is open when it is closed. I have read the error codes with Carly and it is showing 804846 ZV-Driving rear window (MERHS): open circuit or short circuit to battery voltage. I’ve looked for the error on google and can’t find any results. My car is a F31 2013 (Ex-police) Thanks in advance. |

Sounds like your valet switch is set to lock. In your glove box throw the switch to the unlocked position. Let me know if that works and Welcome!

I had a look on here and it looks like my car doesn’t have a valet switch. It has a silver blanking plate like the one on this thread

I can find that code anywhere. Did you scan through the OBD port? Do you have a valet key? If so try locking and unlocking the car. The only override I know is the valet switch to lock out the rear hatch.

Ye, I used the Carly app to scan and clear the dtc but as soon as I start the car it says boot open on the dash and then that dtc comes back? I tried locking and unlocking with the key but that did nothing.

Alright. If you have verified all the fuses are in tact and are properly seated the last thing I would do is open the hatch from the inside and when opened 1. press the close button for a slow count of 10. If it closes it should the open. 2. If not get a good fast drying solvent like brake cleaner and clean the latch in the in the tailgate. Other than that since it is a special police version it may have to go to the service center. I'll be reading this site for another 15 mins

Once it opens it soft closes fine. I just found this thread which seems like it’s the same problem as mine.
http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...1328653&page=2 Seems like that dtc code is referring to the same area aswell. I’ll have to try and find a guide on how to get to the latch on the window. Thanks for your help. |

Ok one other thing with the actual key. Insert the key into the drivers door lock. Lock the door then unlock it. Hold the key in the unlock position for a slow count of 10. Does this unlock your trunk.

Is it possible for you to show which part of the cable is loose?
I have the same problem, but mine is F30 No valet switch as well. But all button and boot switch does not work. Only opens when I activated it from obd2 via workshop's computer. I'm dumbfounded. |
