2009 CTS-V

Sorry, noticed too late that this is basically a repost, although it is a different article, plus video.

the CTS-V is GM's answer to all those German uber-sedans like the Mercedes E63 AMG, Audi RS4 and RS6 and, of course, the one that started the madness, the BMW M5.

GM isn't announcing pricing yet, but indications are that the Cadillac CTS-V will be somewhere around $70,000.
This is the same number I got at the car show when I asked the model rotating with the car.

And the CTS-V is blessed with this as well, especially considering it's obesity.

It is a badass car. What a beast. I still don't want it tho.

You're telling me THIS is ugly?

I understood looks are subjective, but I have a hard time understanding why someone would call this car 'ugly'. It leads me to believe that such observations are based more on this car's manufacturer rather than the actual looks of it.

It is definitely a beast and nice looking, but I will never buy it over a C63 or M3.

The car doesn't look particularly attractive.. it's just squared off again the same when CTS were facelifted entirely. I can go on and on about the side vents (fake or not) on cars these days.

BMW designs have always evolved.. which what makes them stand out above the rest. I understand that this is subjective especially ont his forum but you get what I'm saying.

I would take that any day over the C63...more room, more compliant ride, and more efficient...

And better performance...

What about reliability? I don't know much about Cadillacs or GM as of late. Is it on par with Merc and BMWs?

I have no idea why. I just don't feel comfortable spending that amount of money on an American car.

In regards to reliability...The small block Chevy V8, and it's derivatives, are as reliable as anything that Germany puts out...no matter the manufacturer...and I would venture to say even more so...they have been building the engine for 50+ years...

Now overall quality compared to BMW (Merc is low in quality and long term reliability) is another subject...

I believe the CTS-V is ugly. For me, it's too angular, with too many edges, and is somewhat reminiscent of the F-117 stealth fighter.

Not to pick on you in particular, but unless you've actually seen the CTS-V in person, comments on the styling are without value. Just as with the GT-R, in person the car is visually powerful, and even captivating.

Of course, beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, but you can'r really tell unless you've been there.

Was never a fan of Caddy or american car, but sometimes you must acknowledge the good stuff, and I think Caddy is moving in the right direction.
