340i in the borders

I've been all over in this car the last month or so, almost covered the length of the country from the North East to Exeter and back then up to Aberdeen (not all in one go). Still cant get enough, its been great on a short family trip to the south coast, managed to swallow up all of the baggage a new baby requires. Then when the family weren't in the car on my trip to Scotland I got to open it up on some nice country roads through Northumberland and up into the borders. It's been said many times but the decision to have the MPPSK installed was one of the best, the upshift burbs and downshift pops are addictive - dont even have to be driving full throttle to enjoy it. Got another road trip to the Alps planned in June and this has been a nice little warm up for it!

Stopped near the border view point for a few snaps on a nice night...

Great pics of a good looking car!

Please be careful what you put up your boarders though, I suspect they might get a little upset if you try and stick a 340i up them!

Car looks great and you're absolutely right about the MPPSK, best mod / option on the 440!

This is going to be my only regret of 440i ownership.

Pretty much decided I'll be VTing in 18 months and driving our Q7, and getting a cheaper second car.

Wish I'd got the MPPSK last year when I was thinking about it, I just can't justify the cost for 18 months.

Lovely car and the A68 is indeed a great road!

Unfortunately, though, the police are also aware of the road's appeal and are often out and about looking for anyone speeding. A number of years ago I'd been up to Jedburgh for a meeting and on the way home got pulled for doing 70 on the A68 just on the Scottish side of the border. It was a fair cop but given the speed and the fact there was virtually nothing else on the road I thought I might get away with just a telling off; no such luck and, with no SAC's in Scotland, it was 3 points and a fine!

Yeah, I'm regularly up and down that road as the in laws live in Jedburgh and quite often see police parked up looking to catch people. I find its a nice road to briskly cover without feeling the need to excessively speed, some nice bends to test the brakes and give a bit of throttle on the exit without going daft can be just as enjoyable especially at the right time when the roads are quite - this was about 8pm and there was nothing on the road. You've been a bit unlucky there, a decent copper would have just slapped you on the wrist. Its easy to creep over 60 on some of those straights

Yes, when I first saw the blue lights in my mirror I thought either this chap's on a call or he's after me because there's nobody else on the road! Unfortunately it was the latter (he'd been parked-up in a farm entrance and I hadn't seen him until I'd gone past) and he'd obviously had a bad day as it was clear from the outset that he was going be issuing me with a fixed penalty. I remained polite throughout but his attitude was irritating and when he insisted I take a breath test I couldn't resist saying "sorry to disappoint" when he confirmed a zero reading!

Great looking beast.

After the heated steering wheel the MPPSK would be my next option on every BM I order now

The Heated Steering Wheel.

I scoffed at such an inconsequential thing and dismissed it out of hand when people were evangelically describing its mystical properties. Fast forward two and a half years later after ordering it for my car and I wouldn't be without it, it's great!

Lovely car & best colour

It's like the big brother of mine. I get you on the exhaust, the standard is just too quiet except on start up.

The A68 is great. Travel it once a week down to NCL. Usually a few fast drivers doing the run with me and plenty of overtaking challenges between lorries & tractors.

I agree the cop was a bit anal chasing after you and pulling you over for going 70 on a 60 road that was empty .. when they don't have the resources these days to come out to you if your £40/50k car is stolen!
