BMW Assist?
I'd like to know how the procedure for a BMW Assist call out works please?
My squeaky rear end has got really bad now so I can't leave it until the April 10th appointment at dealers, they said the only way they could do it sooner is if I call out BMW Assist then they can look at it straight away, which seems bizarre to me! Just wondering if they even look at the problem at my house or do they just take it to the dealers? And do they then bring me a loan car or do I need to go to the dealers with them to get one? I'm trying to work out how much of my day it's going to take up really. |

I had problems getting my winter wheel off last year. Called BMW Assist and they were there at my house in 30 mins. The guy was very helpful and sorted it without fuss.

I'm guessing they could assess it and determine if you need an immediate fix and take you to the dealer? Not sure really.

BMW Assist
I used BMW assist twice. First when a stone hit my intercooler radiator and caused a leak. They sent a man with a flatbed lorry to look at it. He confirmed it was a radiator leak and should not be driven. He took it away to the nearest BMW dealer and it was attended to right away. I first tried calling the local dealer (the same one that the car went to!) and they said they couldn't take it in for another week. BMW assist obviously bypasses the queue... I got a 520d estate as a loan car until it was fixed, and I was picked up from work by the hire car company (Enterprise), signed the papers at their offices and drove off.
The second time was shortly after they had fixed the radiator. I popped the bonnet, and found that the shutlines between the bonnet and front panel didn't line up properly and the latches didn't fully engage (really they should have caught this first time round), I called BMW assist and within an hour a repair man in a van appeared at home and adjusted the bonnet latches so that the bonnet would lock in place. The car was still driveable, so no rental car, but again a fast track to get the problem fixed at the dealer. BMW assist certainly is useful when you have problems that need to be sorted imminently. We used BMW Assist when we got the MPPSK exhaust rattle - dealer said the same as yours. A wait to get it in, especially as we needed a courtesy car, but to go through BMW Assist as it’ll be quicker.
Mrs rang them, they came and collected the car on a loader and took it to dealers. Courtesy car comes from car hire company (in our case it came from Enterprise), who couldn’t be more apologetic that they could only supply a 320d M Sport saloon! When it came to collecting our car from the dealers, we drove there in the courtesy car and left it with them and they arranged for its return. BMW Assist is so much more than breakdown cover!

BMW assist are very helpful in the couple of times I’ve used them, 2nd time took my car straight to the dealer & he left his vehicle on my drive & got a lift back from someone at the dealer, he organised a hire car for me & I was shocked when a brand new X5 turned up from enterprise, I was in no rush to get my car back once that arrived, had it for 3 days.

They then told me I was getting a 2 litre Mondeo - the cheeky bastards had the nerve to tell me that the engine size group was 2.0 - 4.4 litres! I refused it and the dealer lent me a 325i. |

Assist guy just came round, was here 5 minutes, has said I need to take the car to Coopers myself, I guess they only take it if the car isn’t driveable then! Tried to say it might be Monday, so I had to tell him no I’m doing it today because I don’t have time on week days!
They have now said it should be today they’ll get a loan car to Coopers for me so fingers crossed. |
