Best Tune for Activehybrid 3

Does anyone know what tunes are compatible with the AH3. Both MHD and BM3 are not supported which leaves just the jb4.

IIRC There was a post that someone did use a tune (320i tune I think as that's the engine in the AH3??) which worked well initially but then ran into faults and issues / limp home and general engine gremlins - you'd have to search to find it but someone has done it.

The AH3 has the same n55 engine as the 335. So I would think that tunes are cross compatible between both.

IIRC, afranke in Texas has been dealing with BM3 for the better part of a year. Still getting error codes.

Someone in Europe and perhaps Lancelot in France have spoken about a Belgium tuner that does AH3.

As you noted, jb4 does support AH3.

And the AH3 has(had) the N55 engine.

Apologies you are quite correct - I thought it was a 320 engine supplemented by the hybrid but yes, it is indeed the 335

The replacement 330e has the 2.0 engine and battery.

Yes we have frackje who was happy with his tune from BR performance (Belgium/France based tuner)
I'm seriously tempted by the OBD unlock with BM3 now as MHD won't support hybrids in the near future, just wish i heard news from afranke on that

My friend just got a tune for his AH3 yesterday, +60hp (his car is stock) and happy with it - BR performance as well.

They did it with OBD unlock no need to dismount the DME which is nice

No because their business is custom tunes made on the dyno, for this car it took half a day and 4 maps before finding the right map.

For a price close to that of bm3 i'm seriously tempted.

Gotcha. My local shop said they’ll stand by any Dinan products. All I’ve heard for the AH3 is JB4 though. Just wondering if there’s been any previous experiences with this product, any dyno runs?

I’m deciding between Dinantronics and JB4. Did you install it yourself and get it tuned or how’d You go about it? Also what gains did you get from your before and after dyno?

I am also thinking of getting the tune for my AH2013. But would getting a tune void the mechanical warranty?

Sadly there are many tuning options for the AH3. Both MHD and BM3 don't offer flash tunes for it. Only affordable option out there is jb4 and that is only a piggy back tune not a flash tune. But for what it is, jb4 is a good solution for the price.

Actually custom tuners can do a lot for AH3, it’s just off the shelf that is missing due to lower demand, but two of my AH3 friends in Europe have got a tune and they’re happy with it, for a price similar to bm3, just without the ability to flash themselves.

Expect 575Nm peak torque for stage 1, which is massive, and just about 400hp.

Just back from the tuner, here's the dyno sheet

Before
Setup : Stock tune, Hi flow cat, Akrapovic exhaust, FMIC, BMC air filter
Dyno says 430Nm (320lb.ft) / 328hp

After
Dyno'd at 590Nm (435lb.ft) / 387hp

They attempted a first tune at 640Nm/415hp but it didn't hold in 4th gear, only in 5th, so they reverted to the one above.

Weakness is fueling system they say, with HPFP at max capacity.
I don't really want to bother with meth/E85 or Port Injection so i'm fine with that.

Curious if anyone knows of a HPFP upgrade?

Apart from that the car is pulling like a freight train now, no DT malfunction or anything after 1h30 drive home, edrive transition is as smooth as before.

Now i'll try to put BM3 on top of that to see if we can go get sth better, and some burbles maybe?

Nice, your putting down a lot of power. I was thinking of buying a catless downpipe. Will the 3.5 inch for the 335 fit the AH3?
