Dash Speaker blew

So today it finally happened.. the speaker in the middle right behind the navigation display on the dashboard blew in my 435i, It's the harman kardon, I was wondering where I can find OEM replacements for it, or better, finding a better quality plug and play upgrade. (I would do bavsound but right now I just want to replace the blown speaker for now)

There is a midrange and tweeter there.

Do you know which you need? Or both?

They are the same pair that are in the rear shelf on left and right.

The problem with upgrading just one pair of the midrange/tweeters in the car (there are 7 pairs total in a F30) is that all should really be replaced at same time if you are going the upgrade route.

In reality, the center console speaker is not great from a soundstage standpoint anyway and installing a non-matching speaker would really make it even worse.

I suspect that there are a lot of people out there who upgraded to Bavsound and have their old HKs lying around.

A lot...no. Some yes.

The Bavsound midrange and tweeters are not THAT big improvement over the HK.

Better Amp and Subwoofers give more bang for buck on HK cars.

And most HK upgraded try to sell as a set.

There are certainly some used HK parts out there which I’ve put OP in touch with.

But certainly not A LOT.

Replacing an HK amp......that's a nice trick. Replacing speakers is much easier and cost effective.

The centre speaker is a phasing disaster. Enjoy the music without it I say!

+1, especially the amp. No matter what you use for drivers in the under seat boxes they'll never approach the performance of a trunk sub. As for blowing the center speaker, I can't imagine listening to the level of distortion it would have produced at the volume it would have taken to blow it.

Agreed! i unhooked mine.

OP: Plenty of OEM speakers on eBay last i checked. Personal, unhooked the center due to horrid phasing/timing problems and never went back. Upgraded door speakers to Focal, added a Bazooka 10" powered sub for deep bass.

Enjoy the Music
