Is this common?
Im getting what I can only describe as a whining sound if I balance the throttle just like the video I found on youtube, i reported it to the dealer last year but was told it was the injectors & is normal, to be honest I drove a 320d & that too sounded the same, but today I travelled 120mile round trip & its quite annoying especially if the radio is off.
Is it the injectors or diff?

Its at the dealers at the moment sorting out the cracked stereo buttons, they said they will check the noise out but the tech thinks its the injectors doing there thing & nothing to worry about.

Thanx for the info. Please let me know if soundproofing was the case so I can look into it.

Just finished a 40mile trip & so far so good, car seems to be much quieter & haven't noticed any whining.

evdok, thank you for your feedback. I read in TIS other posibilities could be windscreen washer fluid tank attachement at the bottom or AC hose vibration.
Do you know which insulation has been replaced? All will check all three options asap. |

I had a similar problem and got my differential replaced. Now I think it's almost perfect. I say almost because, time to time, I think I can hear it again although I cannot reproduced and it's hardly noticeable. When this happens, I'm always around 37-40 mph.
With the original differential, the problem was noticeable from about 25 mph up to 70. RPM don't seems to matter. I'm also interested to know what kind of insulation/sound proofing was replaced. |
