M6 reps fitted and pics posted

Hi guys

My new M6 reps are scheduled to be delivered tomorrow

Seeing as I work next door to a tyre fitters I may just have to drive the car round right away and have them fitted

The reason for my post is this....does anybody have any idea on what is involved regarding the tyre pressure sensors? Do they simply unscrew and re-attach to the new rim before the RFT is re-fitted. I know non RFT would have been the way to go but I have tons of tread left on my tyres and have a spare set of RFT's with only 4k miles on them also. Seems daft to spend more than necessary!

Will post some pics up as soon as I can with the new rims on

I don't know if the 6 cylinder cars are different, but the 4 cylinder coupes have no gadgets of any kind in the wheel - they use the ABS sensors so apart from re-setting the TPMS there is nothing else to do.

According to this other thread the E90/E91 uses the ABS sensor, whereas the E92/E93 uses 'proper' TPMS

I thought it was only US cars that had 'proper' individual TPMS - as it is a requirement over there but not here ????

M6 reps fitted and pics added!

Oops - did not mean to start a war lol!

I searched myself and after 1/2 hr gave up so posted the question!

Maybe Hotcoupe or someone may have an idea? Trying to think of coupe owners who have aftermarket rims fitted?

If no sensors are fitted it will certainly make life easier

No dig intended just pointing out from experience yet I have seen some 3 series wheels with the metal valves which bolt to the rim.

I Think the answer to the TPMS question is in the valve stem type:

Rubber has no TPMS

Metal has TPMS

so if it does have them is it just a matter of unbolting them from the OEM rims and re-fitting them into the reps?

It is just that I have spare tyres and I can use 3 of them on the new rims so I can leave the 225M's with the rubber on. I will need just one tyre off the rear 225M though as I had a puncture a few weeks ago and had to put on one of the spare tyres.

I will have to get them to take that tyre off first. If it has a sensor in then all four tyres are gonnna have to come off the 225M's - if not I am just gonna swap the one tyre and chuck on the other three spares.

LOL cheers LMB, (I mean Crimson!!) just been out to look at mine as well! They are defo black and rubber!

That is great new cos I can leave three of the 225M's intact with the original tyres on. Will be able to just pop em back on next year when the car will get swapped!

It's all to do with the different wheel rotation speeds and wheel diameters. No sensors needed. At least thats what my old M3 was and now I've got the lms on the 335 there hasn't been a problem

230 style wheels are the only ones I have seen the metal valves on. I think most feedback on this thread is that the majority have the standard rubber valve hence the ABS system.

There ON!!

Got the wheels fitted pleased with how they look

Had a problem with one of the centre caps not fitting correctly and a little bit of peeling grey paint on one of them, but I have emailed the seller and await a response. If push comes to shove I will touch it in with a bit of anthracite paint.

Let me know what you guys think! (I am sure you would anyway )

Soz about the poor quality pics (Apple iPhone camera is pants)
Nice wheels bet you are pleased. Give us some feedback in a while re quality and how they match up to genuine. Do the original center caps fit or new supplied with wheels. I notice they also have the small M badge. Enjoy
