2013 320i battery replacement
Just got a quote from my dealer for battery replacement of $621. I am not an expert on this but even that seems like robbery to me. I was thinking in the $400 range? Anyone else had a similar quote?

That's too high, just do yourself a favor and buy a bosch battery at pep boys and have an indy shop install it and program it, you can be out the door for $350 that's battery and installation and registration of battery

The replacement battery must be coded to your car. This can be easily done via Carly or other similar doodads. If you buy the battery from BMW and have them code it you know what it costs.

Thanks, I am going to my independent shop for this one for sure. Just got a quote of somewhere between 240-340 for the replacement cost.

Normal battery life has typically been about 5 years in all the BMWs I've owned. My current car is 5 years old next month but so far, the battery seems ok. Two things may have increased the longevity - I moved out of a very hot climate (TX) to a milder one (NC) and I've only got 27K miles on it. I have never used auto-start-stop. Nonetheless, $621 for a battery replacement is absolutely ridiculously overpriced.

Just had my battery quit on me during the extreme heat here in the Northeast. Battery cost me 185, for the Bosch brand after rebate. I installed myself with the help of youtube. I then went to my independent and within 5-10 minutes of being connected via his laptop and $20 later, I was good to go. Anyone who pays the dealer to do this is crazy.

Just checked my dealer pricing... $420 all in. High but not insanely high like $600+
Im still okay on my original battery at 58k miles (2014). Never hurts to know what may be coming down the line maintenance wise though. Hoping BimmerCode adds battery registration in the next year or so! Anyone know the part number for an OEM F30 battery? |

I just went through this a few months ago. Got a new battery at BatteriesPlus for around $200 and they installed it for free (don’t forget to ask for your core deposit). Charged it up overnight then drove over to my indy and they registered it for around $30. I could’ve bought the cable and software to register myself for around $100, but was in a bit of a hurry at the time and really just didn’t feel like it.

Thanks. So looks like either of the following are the best bet then... Are both interchangeable or is it specific by vehicle and features? Original BMW AGM-battery 90 AH - 61216924023 Original BMW AGM-battery 80 AH - 61217555719 |

The high(er) AH one usually is preferred.

Here’s the battery I bought. You get $20 back with the core from your old battery.
IIRC “Group 49” is the higher-spec (90aH) battery. The smaller 80aH also fits but I think they were both the same price. I believe there’s only a few companies out there making these batteries with most brands being relabeled, so not much point in agonizing over any particular brand or even OEM vs non-OEM. https://www.batteriesplus.com/productdetails/sli49agm |

I just picked up a OEM battery for $190 today. BMW SF (bmwpartswarehouse) is having a sale on parts right now until 8/31. You can try to see if your nearest dealership can price match. A few days ago, I called a couple of dealerships in the bay area and they were asking anywhere from $260 to $315 for just the battery.
