So you want to stay with run flats?
My car came with the Pirelli P7 run flats. These tires were horrible. On any fast tight turn the sidewalls felt like they were collapsing and they had the worst wet traction of any tire I have ever used. I decided I could not drive on these and started looking for new tires. On my last 3 cars (Porsche and BMW) I ran MPSS so I was used to excellent performance. The issue was that this was my daily driver with no spare and I put a lot of miles on it. Due to this I was still considering run flats again but if they were anything like the P7's I was going back to non run flats. I talked to the tech at the tire store and he said hands down the best run flat was the Michelin Pilot Sport AS 3+ 245/40 ZR18. After much discussion I decided to give them a try. Right after I put them on I felt a HUGE difference. Excellent dry and wet adhesion, low road noise and very good performance like I was used to. I am not saying they are as good as the Super Sports but they are very good for a run flat. I now have 9000 miles on them and have been impressed. Plus they are a good looking tire and don't really look like an all season, not to mention they have a 30,000 mile warranty to boot. If you need to go with run flats I would recommend them.

Thanks. I absolutely hate the Continental runflats on my F30. Sounds and feels like I'm driving a Jeep Rubicon.

I am not sure but they also make a non run flat in this same series so make sure you are looking at the RF if that's what you want. On my 435 it was listed as an "optional" size. Wider than the standard.

First thing I did was swap mine to DWS06's. Best decision I've made so far.

I like the idea of the AS3 because it's an all-season tire with close to summer tire performance. Add in RFT technology and you get a good combo of features for daily driveability. I do know they aren't great in snow, but i don't plan on driving my car in the snow anyway. It would just be nice to know I can drive it on cold dry days.

I'm not sure about which tire option you have but I have a '14 328 with the sport line rims, squared 225/45 18 setup. The Pilot Sport A/S 3+ run flats didn't come on that OEM size, so I had to search using a custom size of 245/40 18. I've had these tires on for about 6 months now and really like them, much more than the Pirelli Cinturatos that came with the car.

Yes, those cintauro p7s are a complete abomination. Easily the worst tires in the world. And the price....

I have RFT and still carry a flat repair kit and compressor. That way I can fix a puncture before the sidewall is irreparably damaged. On trips away from home I carry a compact spare too, so worst case I don't have to get a flatbed ride and spend a day or two trying to get a replacement tire. Chances are I'll never have need for any of that, but I'd rather have them and not need them than the other way around. I'm undecided on what to do when it comes time to get new tires, but TBH the Conti RFT don't feel or sound any worse on my 328 than Michelin MXM4 did on my 07 Altima.

With 35k on my P7s I switched to Bridgestone DriveGuard RFTs on my F31. Definitely not as harsh of a ride as the P7's. Happy so far. Waiting to see how they do in the snow...

Kept the RFT on my last two cars. Each set has been an all round improvement over the prior versions. Up till the 435 the first thing I did after break-in was put get flats on the car. Here summer tire are used all year round so there is no need for an annual tire swap.
For what its worth all the BMW drivers school cars run Continual Tires. Dummy forgot to check what model they were DUH. My co-drive & I had to get front tires replaced halfway through the afternoon session. We were both pushing for best times of the day on the timed events. I used the Conti DW's as my non-RFT replacement tire back before I started to keep the RFT..

My 2013 F30 335i came with Pirelli P7 run flats and I hated those tires. I ended up replacing them with Michelin PSS (non-run flats) and saw a huge difference. I ended up carrying a BMW tire inflation pump with sealant (like they provide with the M cars) so that I did not have to worry about having flats. Subsequently I used Bridgestone RE-71 R and am currently using BFG Sport Comp 2 and they turned out to be great. Though the RE-71 R performed very well, they only lasted less than 5K miles for me (due to aggressive front camber and the tires being directional). The BFG Sport Comp 2 costed less then MPSS (I think they still do) and I've seen no difference on the street. If I were to buy a new set today, I'd pick BFG Sport Comp 2.
That was my $0.02 |

I've remained silent long enough...yes, the RFT helped me "make an appointment on time once" after getting two flats but also damn near killed me on at LEAST four occasions now. Who the hell cares if I'm late for an appointment as I'd much rather make it there alive! How in the hell can these Pirelli P7 RFT be approved for any sort of road use? (honest question based on emergency maneuvering) They have NO WET traction and dry is so shitty, it hops the curves when there is any imperfection in the road. So, what am I to do if there TRULY is an evasive maneuver? Pray I suppose lol.
I will be swapping these deathtraps out with Michelin PSS's ASAP before this car ends up totaled. I've never been in so much "fear" when trying to have fun yet when there is room, I'll toss this car into a slide much easier due to the shitty traction so I suppose they do have their benefits

The best part is when you go to the dealer and they bitch at you for changing the tires.
