Difficulties starting and Drivetrain error

When I tried to start the engine, the cranking is about 2x longer than usual, and when the engine is finally started, there would be a drive train error that goes away after restarting. This happened about 3 times in past month. Has anyone faced similar situation before?

I have a n20 with JB4 but currently with the BT kit disconnect, as we suspect the Bt kit was causing CELs previously. Can't really check the codes now...

Did the long crank happen every time you start the engine? Mine did 3 times in a month, and other than that, it cranks normally.

I am wondering if it is a battery issue but seems like the idrive will prompt if the battery voltage is too low.

Thanks lefthander!

Trying to diagnose over the internet is shaky at best. That said, hard starting is usually a problem with either the fuel delivery or the ignition. But even if you knew what the problem was you wouldn't be able to fix it. Take it to your repair shop.

Thanks billfitz. I have scheduled an appointment with the shop for servicing + fix back bt kit. For Ignition, might want to change the spark plug. Am I correct to say that?

Thanks lefthander!
It was intermittent, the dealership couldn't fix it and the camgear eventually gave up on me. Unfortunately it was out of warranty and i had it repair out of my own pocket.

How long did it lapse before the cam gear gave up on you? It still drives normally now, except for the occasional start up.

How much did it cost you to repair out of pocket? Thanks!

At least 30000km. The cranking was annoying until the cam gear ceased. Timing went out and misfired.
Parts alone about 1k before labour.
