Question about 2017 330i Msport front brakes

Hello,

I recently took delivery of a new 2017 330i with Msport package.

I am looking for the specs of the front brakes. The front caliper is the larger 4 piston grey type. Is this the identical caliper and rotor that is on the 340i?

How much larger are these front rotors than the standard non-msport 330i?

I could not find this info so thank you!

If you have the M-Sport brakes (not included with the M-Sport package), then the rotors and calipers (aside from the blue paint) are the same as the 340i with non-M-Sport brakes. This is the 4-pot brembo caliper with 340mm rotor.

If you don't have the M-Sport brakes you have a 312mm rotor with floating caliper.

The 340i M-Sport brakes use a 4-pot brembo caliper with slightly different mounts to accommodate the 370mm rotor it comes with. These parts can be retrofitted to your 330i.

I just have the m-sport package. No additional brake package/option and the front calipers are definitely the grey 4 piston fixed and the front rotors look fairly large in the 18" wheels

LCI front and rear M Sport trim (not optional Track & Handling Package) brakes for the 328i and standard on 335i/340i is 340mm front and 4 piston Brembos and 330mm single piston rears.

Well damn. I feel like I got cheated then with my LCI '17 328d. Got the dinky 312mm/floating caliper front brakes with my M-sport kit.

As others have mentioned, it's the same brakes you get on the base 340i. Much improved over the pre-LCI, imo. It's more than enough power to stop the car quickly.

I got a 18 330i M-Sport and was wondering about the brakes as well, since my 16 328i had dinky front brakes, and 330i has fairly large looking brakes. Glad to know this car has the same brakes as a base 340i !

Great, much better initial bite and pedal feel than my 328. Haven’t really did any panic stops or anything for now (only 2.5k kms) . But a significant improvement plus they look great, the 312 brakes looked so tiny.

I traded a 2015 335ix Luxury Line for a 2017 340ix M Sport and had the exact same experience. Both had the 340mm rotors and gray Brembos up front. The difference is that the M Sport pads are different. If you go into your iDrive Service Require menu. You will notice that the pad life was decreased from the base brakes. I had 41,000 miles on the 2015 with the low friction/long life pads on my 2015 and 33,000 miles new from the factory with the 2017 M Sport. That makes senses as the sportier pads normally would wear faster.

I hear folks with the M performance pads have a lot of complaints about pad noise, which can’t seem to be fixed by the dealer. The M Sport pads seem to be a happy compromise between performance and wear. The initial bite is so much better than the base pads with the Brembos. And I don’t need to apply the brakes as hard to scrub off speed like I used to with my 2015 335ix.

I have Msport brakes and new they were big but 370mm! ... the Z51 corvete only has 345mm discs...

Yes they are awesome brakes... stop on a dime with 9cents change...

Thanks again...

But the Stingray also weighs 250-400lbs less and has 4pot calipers in the rear too. Very different brake bias.
