Does the centre console cigarette lighter surround light up when the lights are on? I can see a clear ring around the socket it in my car it's not illuminated so wondering if there's a bulb out?

I've found the BMW accessory plugs to be very very finicky. I've ordered 3 different adapters from Amazon that work fine my my wife's car, but none of my BMWs. The $30 BMW branded ones you can get at the dealer work fine though. Go figure.

I’ve had the car into the dealership to look at this as none of my cig lighter usb chargers work in the socket in the centre console though the same work in the socket under the glove box, in the rear centre console and even in the socket in the boot.

Looking at ththe cig lighter socket I can see there are 2 prongs onto which the central part of the cig lighter would latch, I think it is theses prongs that stop the usb chargers I have from fully plugging in and therefore the centre contact never makes contact.

I’ve also looked on Ebay and amazon at different usb chargers but all I can tell is that if the front end of the charger is squared off then it probably won’t work.
