Does Hitting Fuel Cap Cause Drivetrain Malfunction?

I think I've finally experienced hitting the infamous fuel cap. For those of you who have, does it trigger the 'drivetrain malfunction' error?

Happened to me twice after I put the meth kit on my 340i. Launched hard and threw that drive train code at me and car stopped
