It feels like the center stack / infotainment / AC button area creaks too much.
Anyone else have this concern?
If I drive over a small dip in the road, for example, I can hear some creaking noise coming from the stack area. If I press semifirmly against the plastic above the AC knobs, for example, noise is emitted pretty easily. Is this normal? 2017 430i GC with 8k miles. |

Yes it's normal. If you're comfortable with taking interior components out, then you can take out the bezel and apply some teflon dry lubricant to stop the squeaking. I wouldn't recommend doing this if you are not good with those little plastic clips that hold in all the car stuff these days.
Since your car is still really new, you might want to try complaining at the dealership. They might give you a new bezel which might help matters, but most dealerships will just come back and say it's normal. Which of course is ridiculous. I will say though, that after about 4 hours of applying felt tape, teflon lube, and foam strips in various places around the car, you can get the car to be pretty quiet. |

Yep 'normal' for BMW anyway. Because all $40-$60000 cars should have squeaky interiors right? Both my F30s did this.

Every BMW I have owned/driven does this unless it's with an aluminum trim. Pretty shitty given the price of the car but you learn to live with it even though it's annoying when you're not playing music.

My 2014 had this annoying buzz around the steering column shroud when going over a rough road surface. It was embarrassing because my wife would say things like "I would never imagine a BMW making that noise." Many people feel that the more money you pay for a car, the higher the quality all around. Not always true as we know. I did get that buzz to stop with advice from someone on this forum after the dealer whiffed on their attempt. In very hot weather, that 2014 would also exhibit lots of snap, crackle, and pop from around the rear deck area for the first few minutes of driving. It also had tapping noise coming from the seat belt latches which seemed to go away on its own.
My 2017 has been a different story. Absolutely no interior sounds. I know I'm lucky because other 2017 loaners I've driven did have some squeaks/rattles. This car feels more solid all around than the 2014. |

I had squeaking in the driver’s door handle. I pried it off, cleaned it well, applied silicone lubricant, took a shop towel to the non-marine surfaces to prevent dripping, and reassembled. Squeaking is gone.
Also had some noise from union between the front and rear seat windows. (My car is convertible, and the two windows touch). If I unrolled one window just slightly, enough to break the seal between the two, Boise went away. Sprayed the silicone onto a shop towel, applied to the rubber gasket, problem solved. You just have to find where the noise is coming from. I think it happens in all cars, but it’s almost alwsys fixable. |
