A friend of mine went from a 335i to a 340i and says the difference is astounding. Might want to try out the stock power before you jump into mods.

Have not seen anything yet but you should be able to get an idea by looking at mods for other cars with the B58 engine. I’d add though that the M40i has one of the higher output variants of B58 from the factory so bear that in mind when looking at mods.

Dinan has their tune available for the 340i and 440i with the M Performance Pack which should be pretty close to what the X3 M40i comes with stock.

https://www.dinancars.com/product/d4...ries&mid=1237/

They're pretty conservative and their initial dynos had the stock cars at 378/395 with their tune taking it up to 426/463.

Dinan / Burger Tuning

I'm sure both Dinan and Burger tuning will come up with a tune in the coming months. I've been a long term customer of both and a tune is definitely the way to go. Really pushes the car to the next level.

Jesus stock 340is are doing 378 to the wheels now? Thats nuts. 426 with just a tune? Hell a few bolt ons and you're deep into M3 territory without anything even major done.

Nuts.

I thought Dinan's numbers are all at the crank on 91 octane, not at the wheels but there is this thread with wheel numbers:

http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1313152

331/325 Stock
368/370 MPPSK

And he states it's on 93 octane.

I'm already running the basic JB+ tuner...I've had JB4s in all my past BMWs. So far, so good.

Bootmod3 is supposedly working on the B58 flash, we'll see though

+100Hp?!! Is it only me that this seems rather unlikely?

If it’s true - it makes the JB4 look pathetic lol

Couldn't find much on them except bad reviews and rip off from 2008. Sounds like a scam to me. I'd stick to the bigger name tuners like Burger and Dinan

Is the JB+ adding 4psi to your current MPPK tuned b58 engine or 4 psi more than the regular b58?

I'm looking for a tune to get about 30-50 whp.

Hi...Terry suggested I peg it to 3/4 on the dial. I think it's about 3lbs of boost on top of what the DME has programmed? Max is 4.5. It's definitely on top of the MPPK. I literally only have 100 miles on my speedo and it's probably a dumb idea to put it on so early but I figure I keep the revs down for a bit and I'll be ok. LOL. Otherwise, it feels a bit more responsive. Can't wait to open it up.

I have a M235i that was on a full JB4 setup but have since been using a JB+ purely out of simplicity and laziness (removing for service, etc) and have it at max and am more than content with the power. It's fun enough and I'm not thinking about it much. Not to mention how awesome it is for the 1 minute to remove or install.

Can somebody please let me know when Dinan's tune is released for the M40i?

I picked up the phone and talked with Dinan about 3 weeks ago, and they think the M40i is closer to the M240i which they recently released a tune for. They have an M40i in testing as we speak.

Shouldn't be too much longer.

Is this the case in the UK? Anyone know? First BMW and never known a 3rd party tuner to be covered by warranty.

Thanks

I'm guessing so. They completely match your powertrain 50,000.

So I had this on my SQ5... it appears they now do petrol as well as diesel tuning... good reputation and the box on my Audi was excellent...

Not cheap though so many will probably wish to stick with BMS / Dinan as these seem to be Proven BMW tuners...
