FCP EURO
OK - Like many of you I have switched from ECS Tuning & Tischer to FCP EURO because they offer lifetime warranty on all parts including oil and filter.
. . My question: What oil from FCP EURO are you using? I chose the BMW 5W-30 oil and will use this winter -- coming out of PP EURO 5W-40. FCP EURO has ROWE & Liqui Moly & Pentosin & the BMW oil. . . What are you selecting from them and why? |

I've bought parts from FCPEuro for years. They have great prices and the company's customer service is the best. Lifetime warranty doesn't hurt, either!
PS: I bought 10 liters of LiquiMoly 5w-30 for my 2018 M240i. It carries the BMW LL-01 tag. Last edited by MarcoZandrini; 11-06-2017 at 09:53 AM.. |

I had a very enlightening and useful conversation with one of the FCP Euro team members that's involved in the racing program regarding oils for the M240i. My 2011 e90 335i was my daily driver and track car 4 to 6 times a year. I always changed the oil/filter after every track event, so I wasn't putting anything close to 5000 miles on the oil. Fast forward to now, and I'm wondering what may be best for the M240i with this same track use. At the end of the day, the recommendation was to use an LL-01 oil AND an oil with the MB 229.5 certification for the high shear and temperature characteristics, and not even think about the 0W-20 LL-14 FE+ oil. Their recommendation was the Liqui Moly LL 5W-40 (LM2332). I have 5 quarts of the Walmart Castrol European Formula 0W-40 (LL-01 and MB 229.5), and 10 liters of FCP Euro Rowe 5W-40 (LL-01 and MB 229.5) at home. He said for my operating environment, I'm good to go. This is in Southern CA, and ambient air temps at the tracks can often be close to or over 100F.
If you're not running hard, and use a 7.5 to 10K change interval, he recommended the Liqui Moly 5W-30 (LM2249) The FCP return policy is great, but I've found out the hard way that it has its limitations. I'd like to return my used and worn 335i brake rotors, but the cost to return them is more than the value of the parts!! So it's not worth spending more money than the account credit would be. They are going into the recycle bin. |
