What is it exactly? There isn't much on the net to show what it actually is!

If you look at the back of the greenhouse/window frame on the side of the car, that rounded bump that points towards the back of the car and then curves back in towards the front is the kink.

Here's a shot of the new Passat which makes use of (some might say "steals" ) this design cue:

It refers to the angled cut off the lower trailing corner of the rear side window; a trademark styling detail added by BMW's design director Wilhelm Hoffmeister.
