Michelin alpin pa4 N-spec winter tires

On aware that when I ordered 540 xdrive with 20? rims the tires that came with this option where not all season tires. Only summer tires. I have after market rims and tires for the summer so I will be installing these winter Michelins on the factory rims for Wisconsin fall and winter months.

Are the PA4 the same sizes as the OEM tires? Weird how the PA4 has a different tread pattern for the two sizes.

Yes same size 245/35/20 front 275/30/20 rear. I know I was thrown off as well with the different pattern but I ordered them as a set from tire rack.com and they said this is correct for the staggered fitment.

Have you had any previous experience with these tires (PA4's)? I'm currently exploring my options, and just wanted to know if they drive like a typical winter tire (mushy and noisy). Thanks.

No experience. First time with these winter tires but I?m experienced when It comes to using Michelin tires. Very familiar with the brand. I figured I can?t go wrong.

A buddy put these on his 7 series and loved them. Hes recommended that I use them on my M550 when it arrives.

Thanks for the info. I haven't decided on what to do at the moment. Get the 664M BMW winter package or get the 669M orbit-grey and put these Michelin's on. Another 668M set is another option I guess, I love these wheels.

I'm more concerned about the weather getting cold really, snow is rare around here, but it does get cold enough to warrant switching to proper tires. Having the Michelin PS4's (ultra performance summer) wouldn't be a good thing I guess.

I had the 20" 668M wheels put on before collecting my car and kept the factory 18" M wheels for winter use.

I am very happy with the Pilot Sport 4S and was planning to stick with Michelin and get Alpin PA4 for winter but apparently 18" 275/40 is not produced.

I will probably run the 668M's also in winter as 20" Alpins are available in oem sizes.

I love these wheels anyway and 18"s look too small for G30, i just dont like the idea of taking off and re-installing the tires a few times. Not good for the tires.

You can do 245/45/18 all around.

I know, the 275s at the rear already look skinny. I cannot imagine how 245s would look

I bet the OEM 275 runs kind of skinny so I think the Michelin 245 will not look too bad on the 9" wide rears.
I've got 245/40/19 all around on my 8.5/9x19 OEM 351M wheels.

Thank you for the photo @remmib , i appreciate that.
No, they do not look skinny at all. G30 is big though.

I will either keep the 20" also for winter or go with 18" and square set up as you suggest.

I've got plenty of time to decide, winter does not last long here.
I will switch to winter tires mid of December and go back to summers beginning of March.
I guess i can stand the 18" for less than 3 months

Cool, how's the PA4 compared to driving on the summers?

Under non aggressive normal driving which is the only way I've driven the car so far to be honest it's hard to tell the difference. Normal winter tires make quiet a bit of noise but you can barely hear these tires. Don't know if it's the workmanship of how the car was engineered or the engineering of the tires. Maybe both.

How is the handling compared to the summer tires? Do you have Michelin PS4S as well? Thanks!

How is the steering compared to the summer tires (winter tires, I always hate for being so mushy)? Do you have Michelin PS4S for summer as well? Thanks!

I have Michelin pilot super sports size 255/35/20 and 295/30/20 for summer tires. The alpin pa4's245/35/20 and 275/30/20 for winter tires. Honestly it's hard to tell the difference when I comes to the handling of the car. No meshy feeling. No loud noise coming from the tires. This is under normal driving with the exception of hard acceleration onto highway ramps. Great boots to consider for your winter wear.

Thanks for the info, I finally made up my mind and got another set of 668M's to go with these PA4's.

Great choice. Car came with 20 inches. Summer or winter I like to roll hard and look good. All year crisp and clean. Be sure to post pics

This pattern is for Porsche (you should see a N0 or N1 mentionned on the side of the tire), but it might be the only offer Tirerack has for this size (245/35/20).

The 911 is much lighter on the front axle and this tire is rated 91 (615kg/1356lbs per wheel) for the load. All BMW winter tires for the G30 are rated 98 (750kg/1653lbs) or 100 (800kg/1764lbs) per wheel.

Michelin offers the PA4 in 245/35/20 95W extra load. I would recommend you go with this one for your front tires. They have the same pattern as your rear tires.

For info, summer tires (245/35/20 front) are rated 95 (690kg/1521lbs) or 98 (750kg/1653lbs).
