BMW has reduced their CPO warranty to one year, unlimited mileage
http://cpo.bmwusa.com/warranty, effective September 1st 2017. Sucks, but they're following Mercedes Benz's lead. Audi's CPO still has up to two years/50k miles, but I wonder how long it will be before they follow suit.

Slowly, but surely, they are making it less and less attractive to go with BMW. Was it really that costly for the additional year? Just bought mine off lease last month with 2 year CPO, guess I was one of the last. |

Actually had my trusted SA (bought 3 cars from him over 16 years) say that the better deal is to buy non-CPO (reduces cost of the car) and then purchase "Gold" warranty from BMW, which covers more items and works out as a break-even.

I assume you mean TWO years and 100,000 miles?

If a dealer would sell an actual 2-3 year old CPO at a 30-40% discount of market price (which is not MSRP) of a brand new car, I'd consider. But I've never seen this type of savings for the buyer.

In other words when your 2014 was bought in, say, 2017, it still had one year of new car warranty left. |

That said, I believe that the CPO has changed to 1yr included, with a reduction in the pricing of CPO cars. I was told that you can opt for a second year of coverage, but at an extra fee, of course. The reasoning for this, I was told, is to bring the prices of CPO cars down and make them competitive with non CPO cars being sold by used car dealers that buy them at auction. However...big grain of salt on that info. |

I bought my CPO 335i on August 31st, got the 2 year extended thanks to my SA. Really happy I pulled the trigger when I did.

Of course BMW is trying to increase margins and profits. They're a for-profit entity.
But that doesn't mean I'm going to remain loyal to a greedy, money-sucking entity. |

Yup, that's how capitalism works! Someone at BMW made the calculation to show that any reduction in CPO sales due to this move will be more than offset by extra year warranty sales or by not having to pay for second year repairs. Either that or the potential reduction in selling price more than offsets any turn off from the reduced warranty and sales will be largely the same.
