Modifying E 30 325 to run like crazy

Can somebody help me. I got a E30 325 and when the rev count is at 5 thousant revs it cuts off and it doesn't wanna go up. Can soembody tell me what is the cause as this is extremely irritating me.
I am running a normal 320 original exhaust system. Do you think thats the course why is not going fast.

You probably got the dreaded E engine instead of I engine. The E engine doesn't rev, but has loads of torque down low. I know the I engine revs up to 6500. There are performance chips for the E engine that bumps up the rev, but not by much.

If you have the E engine, you can throw in a 325i head and motronic. Now you will have a so called "327i" with around 170-180hp and good torq.

chazmtb is right you have the 2.8eta engine, thats the same with mine. is yours 5spd? mine doesnt top out at 5k rpm it tops out like at 5500!!! and chaz is also rite about having alotta torque, which is good to get an early lead on civics.
vleivo well it aint that easy just to throw the 325i head!! see the 325i head has a domed piston in it thus causing higher compression in the 325i, but the 2.8eta engine has flat top pistons, so if you end up changing the head with out the pistons then you will lose compression and power. if you go that route you will want to change the pistons as well.

yes i was interrested in doing this as well but i just decided to get my e92 instead so my pops can get his bmw back!!
